Noise is rocking the NGPC? Damn it, I should have wished for something better!
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

lol, yeah I have a complete system from Japan, and a small stack of CIB games: Baseball Stars, Metal Slug 1st Mission, Bust-A-Move Pocket and a crappy Pachi game that came bundled with the console. I've thought about adding posts about em to my blog, but y'know... it's not actually Sega. (Though I do consider it the DC's little sister).

noise I thought of you at PAX East. I spotted two (and only two) loose NGPC games. I picked up King of Fighters R-2 (PAL). I left the other game behind, as they were asking $14 for a loose cart (it was a soccer game, can't recall the title).

BoneSnapDeez wrote:I dunno, but I will say this - it's pretty easy to still find a new NGPC.

They're $90 on Amazon right now, a bit steep but still half of what a current-gen handheld costs. And half of what the (much crappier) Neo Geo X costs, for that matter.

Amazon NGPCs were about $65 last year. :?

 wtf 90 dollars? I'm shocked they're even over 50, I should just buy one off a friend.

I'm talkin' new man. In the box, never been opened. Not a bad price, actually. How much is a new Game Boy Advance? Several hundred dollars, I would guess.

yeah they're more like $40-$50 loose. My boxed Japanese one was like $60ish, and looks mint.

One of my biggest gaming regrets is passing on a boxed Sonic NGPC bundle for $40. It was at my local shop and I said "I'll get it next time." Next time, it had sold 12 hrs before I got there.

@Bone: you thought of me when you saw loose NGPC games? Pfft. I thought you knew me better than that.

I've ordered a Neo Geo Pocket Color off one of the fellas here, and I've started shopping around for games on eBay. I've picked up a couple of bundles, so I have a good chunk of titles coming in, though there are quite a few more I'm interested in checking out. I have a couple of questions though:

First, why is Dive Alert Matt's Version so cheap and Becky's Version so expensive? Is Becky's Version much rarer?

Second off, I'm sticking with cart-only, since that makes the prices that much cheaper. Does anyone have a storage recommendation?

Third, I've ordered a few fighters, but I really want to know amongst those well-versed on the handheld, which one is the best? Samurai Shodown! 2, Last Blade, Gals Fighters, SNK Vs Capcom: Match of the Millennium, King of Fighters R-2, or Fatal Fury: First Contact?

I should probably also declare that for now I'm sticking with domestics. I'll branch out into imports later, but I'm probably going to need a little help tracking down some of the UK versions, since I'd prefer games in English whenever possible.

I hadn't noticed a price disparity between dive alert versions before. Maybe its just a coincidence?

As for the best fighting game, I have only played King of Fighters R2 and Gals Fighters, but a game needs to be damned special to be a better 8 bit fighter than Gals Fighters, which is amazing. Most seem to say SNK vs Capcom is best though.

SNK Vs Capcom: MOTM is def a good one. But I doubt you can go wrong with any of the fighting games on the system.

If you plan on getting Pac-Man for the system, find a complete copy as it comes with a restrictor for the joystick.

Get the brightest lights available for your living situation.
