Since the conversation in the unpopular opinions thread got me thinking about it, what are some of yalls favorite GB/GBC exclusives (not counting VC ports)? Lets take the more common ones out of the picture: like Mario Lands, Zeldas, and Pokemons, and dig more into the library. A couple that I have always enjoyed are:
Gameboy:
Donkey Kong 94 - though a main Nintendo Series, this is often overlooked and is an excellent title.
Blaster Master JR - if you liked the original, it is more of the same
Final Fantasy Legends III - I did not like the first two, but the third felt like a console JRPG to me.
Go Go Tank - an interesting coop action game with puzzle elements.
Great Greed - the best jrpg on the console
Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters - A great little title, that if you are a fan of the original this is an excellent title to grab that most people dont seem to realize exists.
Gameboy Color
Alice in Wonderland - one of the best platformers on the console, just solid all around and gorgeous for a GBC game.
Azure Dreams - Sure it is a wanna be Pokemon but its a fun little title on its own.
Bionic Commando: Elite Forces - An awesome sequel to an awesome game, everything great about the first, with more stuff.
Daikatana - its a Zelda like ARPG that is actually quite good
Shantae - probably the best platformer on the console (though I like Alice more)

Re: Favorite GB/GBC exclusives?
Wario Land Series, if that doesn't count as Mario Land to you.
Revalations The Demon Slayer, If you're megaten fan.
Are we allowed to address imports? This becomes so much easier if so. I find the NA library to be somewhat lacking.

Go ahead on imports. I am always looking for more games to play.
I discovered that FF Legends III was rereleased in 2010 on the DS in Japan, and there is a translation pouncing around, so scratch that off my list.

NA:
Survival Kids
Megaman Xtreme
Aero Striker
Import:
SMT: Devil Children
Ganbare Goemon Hoshizorashi Dyamites Arawaru
Crayon Shin-Chan
CHALVO 55
And I know you said no pokemon, but I'm going to make an exception for Pokémon Card GB2: Here Comes Team GR! We never got it, and it's price is ridiculous, but it's not an obvious choice.

What makes Pokemon Card 2 better than the original, other than the additional card set?
Re: Favorite GB/GBC exclusives?
I find Bionic Commando for GB much better and more pleasing on the eyes, despite the black 'n white color scheme. Playing it on a Game Boy Player actually brings nice coloring options to it that make it look very cool. It's like a Turbo DX version of the NES game, with a faster pace and trickier environments.fastbilly1 wrote: Bionic Commando: Elite Forces - An awesome sequel to an awesome game, everything great about the first, with more stuff.
My own favorite exclusive is Chikyuu Kaihou Gun ZAS or just ZAS for short. It's a vertical shmup in the R-Type / Image Fight vein.

There a few improvements.fastbilly1 wrote:What makes Pokemon Card 2 better than the original, other than the additional card set?
-Opponent battle sprites are dynamic and change depending on whether they are winning or losing.
-Clubs get a touch up.
-A better if not equally as silly story
-A second island
-new female playable character.
Surprisingly the graphical overhaul isn't that noticable, and it IS on an actual GBC cart (not just a normal gb cart with limited pallette support.)
Unfortunately, it's not really worth paying 100$ or so to own a copy, although I don't really feel any gameboy game is, but with the wonderful thing that is emulation it's more immediately accessible. There may or may not be a translation patch somewhere too.
