"Next gen" is marketing baloney. The technological leap won't be that huge thanks to the rule of diminishing returns.

I am cautious about this. As long as they keep the fanservicing bullshit within a reasonable limit I might get interested about an MGS game again. "From one comes zero, so eliminate zero to eradicate one, and two comes before three, oh boy where did I leave my ritalin"

I can dig it. But I refuse to be surprised. Metal Gear Solid by definition defies all laws of logic and thus I wouldn't be surprised if metal gear solid 6 was a wii ware title made in the nes style.

I consider generations to be time based and not tech based.

This really isn't surprising. All the money is in current game consoles because the installed userbase is there and already huge. Putting games on a brand new console, especially exclusively, is a risk most publishers wont take. The goal is to make money, but that's hard when there aren't many people to buy your game in the first place.

With the rising cost of development, I would wager that this new round of consoles will have a very, very slow start, until they pick up a good number of users.

That sounds really odd, especially considering that the MGSV trailer (at least the one I saw) had scenes from the Ground Zeroes trailer in it.

I think it's best to just wait and see what's up with that.

That article from Joystick is wrong. Metal gear solid's official facebook page confirmed this morning that some are confused and confirmed it's ONE GAME called "MGS5: The Phantom Pain." The first bit of the game is called ground zeros and the the game picks up 9 years later as The Phanton pain. Just like SNAKE EATER DID. The virtuous mission than you go back and it's operation Snake Eater for the rest of the game. This has also been confirmed by Kojima via twitter. I take his word over Konami... and it's very common for mgs games to be broken up like this. The people who are confused must not be fans of the series.
