Introduction and a few photos of my modest game collection.

Post by Rubiks »

Hi guys! First off I'd like to thank Nick Reichert for helping me get my account activated! Thanks man!

I've been lurking around here for a while and figured I should sign up. My name is Jon, and I've been collecting games for the better part of 2 years. Growing up we didn't have all that much money, so we were always a generation behind when it came to video games. When all of my friends had the SNES I was still using my NES, and when we finally got an SNES everyone already had N64s. But looking back I'm glad it happened because I got to grow up with really good classic games and that has shaped my interests and passion for collecting vintage games from my childhood.

Like so many kids at the time, I eventually ended up selling many of my old games in garage sales and pawn shops. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't have been so quick to get rid of all those awesome games. So about 3 years ago I got tired with emulators and wanted the genuine article, so I bought an NES with Mario/Duckhunt from a woman in my city, and before I knew it I was hooked again. My brother and I stayed up all night playing Nintendo like we used to do when we were kids. There is a charm about these old games that you just can't replicate. So I began collected everything and anything I could get my grubby little hands on. And now, my collection is large enough for me to feel comfortable actually calling it a collection. It's still very modest compared to many, if not most collectors out there, but I'm working at it and its growing at a fairly steady rate!

Here are a few pictures of my collection so far. It has grown a bit more since these pictures were taken, and not everything has been shown in these pictures. I had to pack away some of my other stuff because I just didn't have enough room.

Bumper Bash is currently the rarest game I own.

You and I have very different definitions of the word "modest".

Anyway, nice collection!

Thanks for the kind words everyone! Appreciate it.

If you guys would like to know more about what I have or if you'd like to see some closeup pictures of something in particular let me know.

I am new to Atari 2600 collecting; so, I would very much like to see more pictures of your obscure Atari games.

Also...since you have a fair number of the Zeller's 2600 games (Challenge, Circus, Freeway, Frontline, etc.) in your collection, my guess is that you are in Canada. (If not, then you should certainly tell us how you acquired them!)

Nice collection. Are you intentionally trying to focus on pre-NES era stuff?
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Good eye! Yes, I do live in Canada so they aren't as rare up here as they are down in the States. I'm only missing 5 of them until I have the complete (known) set. I have some in the boxes too. I'll take pictures for you guys.

Menegrothx. At this point, yes. I don't have much money and lately there has been a huge spike in prices for NES and SNES games in my city. They are generally more in demand than atari and other older consoles. So lately I've been able to snag up bundles of atari games for about 1-2 bucks a game instead of paying some of the crazy prices for NES and SNES games I see on ebay and in the local classifieds.

It's not about how many you have, it's about how you display it!

Nice collection

Yowza! That's quite a collection for only a couple of years. Welcome to the forums.

I see a Dreamcast, but I don't see any games. Are they hiding somewhere?
