Rostov is clear. I think that word was some sort of ancient word meaning "Asteroids" because every damn mission had 3-4 fields to navigate around
Now I am finally on Venice. Cleared the first mission after I was satisfied that Hunter didn't die on me. What a whiner. "I NEED HELP!" when there's nobody attacking him. I said forget that, return to base I'll take on the 4 Grathas and bring down the Ralari all by myself, which I did. *save*
Can't wait to take on 12 fighters and the final base on my own....

Completed! (I used the original character's name to make it fit better)
After the first Venice mission, the second one was easier with 2 extra Rapiers fighting alongside us. The third mission was tougher because Grathas were attacking the Tiger's Claw. The final mission was beautiful; as I was handling the Gratha along the starbase, Hunter went in and took out the base! We beat the rest of the Gratha and after-burned back to the claw before the Salthi and Jalthi could come in. For the good thing Hunter did, he somehow crashed/blew up on final approach to the Claw and died. Debrief doesn't mention his passing, apparently they just wanted to hear the base was taken out so the dude didn't even get his space-funeral.
I've got other expansion packs as well as WC2; I'll do them eventually! Great month!

To be honest, it took me around 5 attempts or so. It's bad enough that they make you fight 2 Jalthis with their 6-shooters of doom in a frickin MINEFIELD which can knock you back pretty bad to start. The Ralari with Dralthi escort goes down easy like your favorite drink, then you got that unpleasant manner of 4 Grathas. Unlike the Kurasawa mission where they'll finish the captured Ralari off pretty fast, the Claw is a bit tougher ship (as it should!) Best thing to do -- save the missiles, off one right away, send Hunter out to get some, and taunt, taunt, TAUNT! Focus on the ones shooting at the Claw. Somehow I only ended up having to kill only 2 of the 4 -- maybe Hunter got one or we only had to deal with 3

So bummed that I missed out on this..although I did beat this game about 3 months ago during my giant wing commander binge. I am glad people were enjoying it, it truly is a brilliant series! I just can't wait for his new game that was backed by Kickstarter..it looks soooooo good

I usually go through a Wing Commander binge myself once every few years. Star Citizen does indeed looking amazing. I'm afraid I won't have a PC that can handle it though.
A little warning on the expansions, they are TOUGH.
Wing Commander 2 and its expansions are a bit easier on the whole and with better storytelling. It's one of my all-time favorite games.
I like the FMV games as well but the first two remain my favorite. I really enjoy the graphical style and the gameplay compared to Wing Commander 3 and onward. Those games have their charm though.

Have you ever played the Sega CD and other oddball console renditions? My first experience with the series was on the Sega CD as a rental. The voice over work was really really well done I remember. Add to it the music and everything...man..I was hooked!
Plus, nothing beats the best quote in the game."Ach! They've caught me with my kilt down!"

I watched some of the Sega CD version on Youtube because I wanted to hear the voices but I never played it myself.
