Good Genesis RPGs that are somewhat affordable?
I just recently got back on to the Genesis gaming scene, and I've picked up a lot of the games I played as a kid. As I've grown, however, I've developed a taste for RPGs, but since I never played any on the platform, I don't know which ones are good, which ones are bad, and which ones are and aren't worth the price of admission. So, I'm curious as to what the best RPGs are on the Genesis that can still be obtained for a reasonable price.

Phantasy Star IV is around $25 cart only if you don't mind not having the box.

There's a listing for a cart-only copy of Shining Force on Amazon for about $13.

IMO, the best RPG on the Genesis is Starflight.

Crusader of Centy is picking up serious steam on the RPG collector market...but as far as affordable games go, there aren't a whole lot of RPGs on the Genesis anyway. The Phantasy Star series, Shining Force series..? I would stick with the SNES if you want 16-bit RPG goodness.

The Phantasy Star/Shining series look really good. As for Starflight, I've never heard of it, but I'm gonna look into it. Some of my friends have recommended Sword of Vermilion and Fatal Labyrinth. Are either of these worthwhile?

Ehhhhh........ Both of these are really dated. I don't dislike either game, but the Phantasy Star and Shining titles are the best way to start.brukner1129 wrote:Some of my friends have recommended Sword of Vermilion and Fatal Labyrinth. Are either of these worthwhile?

So would Shining in the Darkness be worthwhile? Also, which Phantasy Star would be the best to start with (I notice that 2 and 3 are really cheap)?

You can get pretty much any genesis game with luck and time.
You can get games even cheaper just cart only.
How's Landstalker been in price lately?
I kinda enjoyed that one.
