Need help getting best quality audio

I dont use it for mastering, merely for playback in Winamp and to compensate for the killing of reverb tails and bass frequencies which is apparent in (even) the LAME codec. I would indeed do it 'all myself' if I could get any of the VST wrappers for winamp to work, but I cant so I use the Ozone for Winamp plugin.

Loudness Wars = Suck
Compression = Suck
Average Joe Speakers = Suck

I hate the volume wars. Only because I don't have the gear to process everything outboard. I would much rather use several hardware compressors and record to tape from the D.A.W. Software brickwall limiters and multiband compression really just hide problems in the mix. That said its how I get the job done when mastering in house.

Electronic dance music is all about energy and tracks that don't move speakers are just no good. Musical content comes in second to the energy of a song.
