Hello, I got my hands on one of these cool monitors.
I want to use it for RGB on my consoles.
How can I calibrate the monitor? I heard about calibration disks...are they free and where can I get these?
Thanks for the help...I am new to this.
PVM-14M4U Calibration
Re: PVM-14M4U Calibration
If you have pretty much any LucasFilm DVD, you can just use the THX optimizer. It does pretty much the same thing. However to properly adjust the color and hue you will need some special blue filter glasses. They are pretty cheap though: http://www.costore.com/thx/welcome.asp
Also try to get a hold of the service manual for your PVM. If you crack open the case, you can adjust these settings with screws which is handy if your lose your menu settings. See this video for more info:

Oh thanks that is cool. I don't any Lucasfilm movies though.
I was thinking there might be a homebrew Genesis ROM or Saturn Disk that would just be for test patterns and adjusting the picture output...Does that exist?

Not that I am aware of. I know there are some free test signal dvd ISOs out there on the Internet that you could burn to a dvd. Here is an expample: http://techpreservation.dyndns.org/dvddl/testdisc.htm
You will still need some sort of blue filter for the color and hue however.

Awesome, I like that dvd. I went ahead and ordered the THX blue filter glasses too so that is taken care of. Thanks for the suggestions.bmoc wrote:Not that I am aware of. Just wanted to follow-up on this. If anyone wants a Genesis or Dreamcast calibration program there is one at: http://code.google.com/p/240p-test-suite/

Nice find! I may give the SegaCD one a whirl later.

Thanks for the link. I knew these existed. I'll have to use these to finish fine-tuning my PVM.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
