No Used Games On Xbox 3
Re: No Used Games On Xbox 3
Admittedly I don't care for the thought either. If it all goes to pot, then how about instead I go visit you in Maine and we play some SNES games together?

Well I probably wasn't going to get the new Xbox anyway.
Everyone can hang out at my place and play Saturn Bomberman.

Sounds good to me!Ack wrote:Admittedly I don't care for the thought either. If it all goes to pot, then how about instead I go visit you in Maine and we play some SNES games together?
Hope you don't mind the fact that I have the two ugliest yellowest SNES consoles in existence.
Re: No Used Games On Xbox 3
As long as they're still functional, it doesn't matter what they look like.
Hey! Here's a thought: We know the SNES at least had the potential for online play (based on the whole satellaview dealio) and the Genesis tried it in a very limited way with the Sega Channel. Why doesn't someone invent an adapter for these systems and set up servers for Street Fighter 2, Mario Kart, Madden 95, Streets Of Rage, etc? At least those games would be worth going online to play and by setting a network up ourselves, we could tell microsoft to get lost. I know there are a lot of tech heads in the gaming community, so lets make this a reality. What do ya say?

Agreed. My SNES is yellowed as heck, and even has a crack in the top of the case that I have no clue how it got there (I'm thinking it was a cat incident that my wife covered up). But it still runs like a champ!Retrodude wrote:As long as they're still functional, it doesn't matter what they look like.
It's not really the owner's fault that the SNES's yellow. I've read that a certain run of SNES's had a fire-retardent chemical put into the plastic that causes that to happen.

Would be cool but probably too complicated, if you want to play those games online most emulators now days have net play.Retrodude wrote:As long as they're still functional, it doesn't matter what they look like.

Again, the language used in the article is "always on, always connected". This is not the same thing as "connection is required at all times" because Windows 8 uses the "always on, always connected" paradigm. The idea is that the system is intelligent enough to put itself in a low power state when you're not using it but it can still do certain background tasks, like keep up to date with mails or program updates. Nintendo already did this with the Wii using the WiiConnect24 thing; albeit they underutilized it.

Re: No Used Games On Xbox 3
The PS3 already does this with PS+ as well. Instead of starting a game and getting an update required message, you turn on the console to a notification of games that got patched.
Re: No Used Games On Xbox 3
Nope. What is it with Sony and Microsoft lately? I'm not really enticed to spend my disposable income on what seems like hardly a new and innovative technology. Wii-U looks to be the only true next-gen console that looks like a traditional console. Who knows. Until it's out, hopefully these leaks are really a trial and error series of "press releases" on determining what consumers/gamers really want out of the next generation.

You know that VG Leaks article could have easily faked the images.
Lets wait until Microsoft annouces something before we get all up in arms look how
we were ready to burn down Sony with the PS4...and that was debunked
Still, I'm buying a PS4 and not an XBOX.
