Thinking of scoring a cdx..wondering about rgb/comp quality

Post by treepop »

A guy in my area is selling a cdx for $180 with sonic cd and the legends multi pack game and 2 controllers.

I tried getting a model 1 cd to fit with my model 1 gen, but the drive died after 1 day! So I returned it.

I was thinking about getting a model 2 paired with my gen 1, but the room is going to be a problem, plus the multiple plugs is a major pita.

However, I spent some good money getting RGB scart out of the gen 1 and converting it to component. I believe the cdx will need a different scart cable than the gen 1, since the plug uses the av out of the gen 1 and it differs from the cdx.

I think they make a scart cable for the cdx right? Also I hear there is a lot of video noise with the cdx and rgb. Is this true?

Easily solved with one of these:
(scroll down that page for the specific one you need)

Correct. It wouldn't fit in a Genny Model 1.

They do indeed.
This particular cable would also be compatible with a Genesis/Mega Drive model 2, Sega Nomad, 32X, and I believe the Sega Pico as well.
Trying checking eBay. They should have some up for sale.

Not as far as I'm aware. Probably depends on the quality of the cable itself.
At least I haven't noticed any video quality "noise" when using RGB SCART out with my CDX system.

Very nice. Thank you! I will keep my eye on that site. They are currently out of stock :(

I ended up going with a gen 1 HD graphics + cd 2 on ebay for $100. Has the heat shield, the extender majigger, both power supplies. Seemed like a decent deal and I will now have a back up gen 1.

I figure that's the best quality I can get, and I will just figure something out room wise.

Good deal, yeah. And you say as well the base extender part that doesn't let the Model 1 overhang? Nice!
