This seems to be the SNK equivalent to those Sega licensed emulation handhelds that seemed to come out every month a few years ago. I didn't mention this in my last post, but the arcade stick looks promising.

Yes!
The arcade stick would be more promising if it was sold as a stand alone item.

Actually, you're in luck. The stick is available by itself for $50 and uses a standard USB connection.

Evidently it works with both PC and PS3 (and maybe others with an adapter).

I have to admit that I am very, very tough on critics who don't tout their education and qualifications when stating their opinions. I'm also not fond of "critics" who simply show stuff and provide no base for their opinions, which is rampant in video game reviews (even on this site).

The "Ashen" (I believe that's his name) review of the NEO-GEO GOLD X was a super breath of fresh air. I wanted to purchase this "combo system", but the review made me dodge a bullet. No long opening, no "top" or "worst" lists; just a straight dope product review with sound logic for those who are interested. And that is how games and systems should be reviewed.

Count me in the thousands of people who thought the portable would fit in the dock like the an cartridge. Count me in the thousands of people who thought the Gold would provide better emulation than my laptop.

I may be alone on this, but this review is exactly what I want to see. No bullshit, just a straight report. I don't need eighteen minutes of added "entertainment" for a review; tell it to me straight.

Yep. You can get it at Amazon. I'm wanting to hear from more people (preferably Racket Boy Members) before I put down the fifty dollars.

Even though I find Ashens entertaining, I agree with Luke.

Oh, I do think his reviews are entertaining, but the "show" takes the back burner to the review itself, which I love. Sorry if my post came off as I didn't find his reviews entertaining, as he seems quite intelligent and captivating.

It's not "Here's X, and I think Y about it" with his reviews. He shows "X" and explains "Y".

People should take note.

My thoughts so far - the NGX is a "decent enough" replacement for the prohibitively expensive MVS/AES/NGCD.

I do like the fact that the NGX is portable, as I really enjoy portable gaming. If this was simply a plug & play TV emulator I probably wouldn't have taken the plunge. I don't think I've even tried to hook this into my television yet.

That said, the best way to get the Neo experience without going broke is to buy a Pocket Color and a handful of decent games.

I HATE the way it fits into the dock. Feels tight and awkward.

Guess I'll watch this YouTube review now.

Haven't fired this thing up for a couple of months but I'm definitely forward to the new cards and much needed update next month.

They actually comment the NGX was built from disappointment!
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

If anyone is on the fence about getting one of these, Amazon is currently selling them for $150. I have no idea if this is a sale or permanent price drop but Gamestop is still selling the same thing for $200.
