Which movie is this scene from?

Post by Gooseberrysoda »

A boy is at home, pretending to be sick for some reason. His mom has to work and calls to check on him in the middle of the day. Something happens that requires the boy's attention, and so he pours diet coke all over the phone receiver and pretends he's vomiting on it.

All of my instincts tell me that this is E.T. but I can't come up with any evidence to prove that (don't own the DVD, can't get a ride in to town to rent it). Does anyone else remember?

It wasn't E.T. In E.T. Elliot put the thermometer in the desk lamp to heat it up to trick his mom.

Could it be Mac And Me? That one rips off ET in every other way, it wouldn't surprise me if it included a suspiciously-similar scene like that.

Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to rewatch that movie (again).

Right- I found out that it is from E.T.- just not the version with which most people are familiar. It's that 2002 "20th Anniversary" re-release.

Which Spielberg pulled back when he realized it was a mistake. If for some reason you want to see that version of the film, you'll have to track down the original 2-disc DVD because I don't think it's available anymore (although I could be wrong about that).
