Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Man, I remember the screen being a little dark, but I genuinely don't know how I ever played any games on my Game Boy Color - I've been playing Kirby's Tilt n' Tumble (which is unfortunately still best played on GBC unless you have a modded backlit GBC or original GBA) and I literally had to turn 5 lights on in my room before I had made enough to be able to comfortably see the game. It was made even worse by the fact that tilting the console often mvoed it out of the direct light, making it impossible to see again

Can't play it on an SP or Game Boy Player. I've tried!

Well, you can, but good luck

Yeah, playing it just really makes me appreciate modern portables and their backlit screens.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Shit, even the original game boy advance is impossibly dark. Its almost worse because all of the color makes dark spots pretty much become total blind spots. Like you said, I'm amazed I could play this thing as much as I did.
On that note, that guy wiggy on the cover project (who's also a member here) does light mods for a lot of portables, including back lighting the gba. I'm definitely gonna get that done soon.
He can front light the GBC too, if you're interested AJ. I've thought of doing that as well.

I remember once reading that the PAL version of Tales of Phantasia is very light and "washed out" looking to compensate for the lack of backlight on the original GBA.

Thanks for mentioning it, but it seems a bit much for basically only one game. I play every other Game Boy game on my GBA SP, but can't play KTnT on it because it reverses the controls due to the upside down cartridge.

Ah, gotcha. Well I figured I'd throw it out there.

I plan to look into it mostly because I don't particularly like the SP on its own. The light is great of course, but its a bit too cramped for my taste.

I had one of those magnifier-light rigs for my GBC. You guys were troopers.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Speaking of screens, the most recent portable I've owned was an original, non-backlit GBA.
...going from that to the PSP 3000 screen is incredible.

The GBA screen is far, far, far harder to see than the GBC by a wide margin.
