Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 7 Issue

Post by Stark »

Yeah, I know it's pretty likely that nobody has really used this yet, but I thought I'd see if people ran into this issue or know what direction to point me.

On this forum, with IE9, if I click on a thread's last page and read it and then clicked the back button on my browser, the icon on the left of the thread title would be marked as read. Now, in IE10, this isn't happening unless I re-click on the subforum or click "View your posts" if that's what I was searching for. So what I'm wanting to know is, what is it in a browser that communicates with my computer to know that I read that page, when I click back? Is it cookies?

Yeah, it sounds like when you hit the back button it's just bringing up the cached page and not refreshing it.

If you wanna be lazy and just use the back button (instead of navigating back to the subforum) then hit F5 afterward. That'll refresh the page and the topic should be marked as read.

If I use back in FF it will show things I just marked as read as new again too. Like Ziggy said, it is just pulling the cached version since you used back.

Ah, yeah, didn't think about that, so IE9 must be doing a page refresh automatically when I hit back? I looked through the options on 10 and didn't see a way to enable that. Thanks for the thoughts guys!
