21. Donkey Kong Land III Game Boy *NEW*
1080 is an unfortunately rather dated game. A lot of the things that would have made it feel notable at the time don't really work as selling points any more. The graphics look pretty impressive for an N64 game, but as they were going for a realistic style they obviously look pretty rough now. The game also aims for a more realistic play style as compared to the over the top trick orientated style slightly later games like SSX aimed for - doing tricks in the main race mode actually just serves to slow you down. It actually means there's not a whole lot to do in the races - mostly it's all about timing when to hold down Z to speed up or correctly land from a jump. There are also only 6 courses - they're quite nicely designed, but it feels a little lacking in content. The trick mode is actually less fun imo - the tricks are really complicated and awkward to pull of, and slow to execute so it just feels a little clunky in comparison to something like Tony Hawk's. It's not a terrible game, I got some entertainment value out of it, but it's not one I'd recommend. I hear a lot of good things about the Gamecube sequel 1080 Avalanche though.
Donkey Kong Land III is a very impressive platformer for the original Game Boy. It plays like a sort of remixed Donkey Kong Country 3 with similar environments, characters and enemies, but with all new levels designed just for this version. The game plays very smoothly, and the graphics are an impressive representation of the SNES game graphics in the Game Boys 4-colour pallete. Playing it on a GBC or GBA colours certain platforms and enemies, plus your player in with bright colours so they stand out against the background more too, which was a nice way to distinguish the graphics from the slightly busy backgrounds too. The game is an OK length for a game boy platformer, with 36 levels, and takes about 2 to 3 hours to beat, with a typical rare collectathon for completion too. There were a few issues - the small game boy screen made it hard to see enemies sometimes - particularly when scrolling up or down - particularly as the characters jump about a mile in the air every time you press the button, making it scroll a lot. Overall though, it was really a nice demonstration of what the Game Boy was capable of and a pretty fun game worth playing.
Next up: Something out of Blaster Master, Kirby Tilt 'n Tumble, Bubble Bobble or Cybernator.

This is one game I prefer playing with a PS controller.

That one darned water valve that you have to wall grind almost always prevents me from getting every tape in one run.

13. Binary Domain (Xbox 360) - 3/17/2013
Pretty good premise for a story. Great gameplay, pretty graphics, and neat dialogue tree for character development. At $20 new (probably even cheaper), this is worth taking a look at, if you like the third person shooter like Gears/Vanquish, etc.

wow, so as someone who was familiar with the PS1 port this feels like a whole new game. This feels like an arcade game! I've always been a big fan of the CvS games, in fact preferring them over the MvC games. I must say that the final fight against Bison is still a rush. Love it!

I like the DC port of CvS. It's flawless and it has tons of bonus features, plus the point system for unlocking other stuff. Plus, you can hook up to your NGPC! Beat that GC-GBA cable!

-Angry Birds Rio is probably the easiest and most boring in the series.
-The Last Story is my favorite JRPG of the 21st Century.
-Retro/Grade is a fun and simple few hours, but I can't see replaying it.
-Sonic Fighters is just barely worth the $2 I spent on it.
-Spec Ops: The Line is more interesting for what it tries to do than for what it does.
-God of War: Ascension is a lot of mindless fun and a quality AAA game, but also probably my least favorite game in the series.

Had to take a break from the frustration of Bayou Billy. I could have chosen a better game in the meantime to play. but I still find LvC to help pass the time, and you will pass time winning the NBA title. The difficulty is stuck on show time, and you have to play 20 minute quarters.
Fun, nonetheless.
