Gaming on the touchscreen

Post by Pulsar_t »

Tablets and dumbphones, love them or hate them they're here to stay, gorilla-arms withstanding and all. I've been trying a few games on the KF. Anomaly Korea is a good example of a game interface that suits touch controls. Now I would never understand why people would bother with Wipeout clones or driving/FPS/flight games that have no tactile support whatsoever, using waggle controls that make the Wii look like choreographic art.

Feel free to chip in if you find a game that isn't outrageous/ridiculous to play on the go.

I'm working on a list of 20 games that are worth playing on android. I'll update when it's done.

I personally prefer buttons. I got myself a cheap chinese android tablet that unfortunately doesn't support bluetooth however, so no wii remote control for me :_(

With that said, some games work extremely well, if not better, with touch controls, but options are nice.

There are a lot of games that work very well with touch or tilt controls. Its just a matter if the game was designed to use them.

Just don't ever play sonic 4 with touch controls and you should be fine.

That would be nice yes.. anyway I'm of the school that one is better off playing to the strengths of the platform. If I absolutely must play on a tablaphone the game had better be designed with touch controls in mind, not a lame console knockoff.

Any game that uses an on screen mouse arrow are the ones to look for. Point and Click Adventure games such as Myst or Puzzles such as Zuma or Bejeweled get a quicker response since the Touch Screen has an instant placement of the pointer anywhere on the screen.

In my case I'm going a slightly different route for the Touch Screen games. An Art Tablet such as the Wacom or uDraw to get the same instant access anywhere on the screen. This works better when playing the touch screen style games on a desktop or the HDTV.

I've been enjoying Minigore 2: Zombies. I am usually not crazy about virtual controls but they work fairly well in Minigore 2.
