It's not the original one, but - I'm assuming - someone's copy of it.

Why is this an issue?
Well, I don't necessarily want them on the same console, as much as consoles from the same company.

It bothers me just because it is, in this case, an overarching storyline. Though, from what I've been led to believe, CDProjekt make their games in a way that they are contained storylines within a larger storyline, or something.

But if they're on different consoles anyway, why does it matter if the consoles are from the same company?

Its a personal thing, some kind of OCD or something. I have Dark Souls on 360 right now, but if I got a PS3, I would want to sell it so I could have it on the same console as Demon Souls.

I need to figure out how to get past this, I have some kind of issue.

Yeah, there's a Japanese FFIII on PSP. I'd like to get it someday.

Once I start a series on a specific system I like to stick with it too. For example, I have Mass Effect 1 and 2 on Xbox 360. If I ever get part 3 (I doubt I will) I'd also like it on the 360.

Speaking of the Witcher, I'd have to get the 360 version of part 2 myself. I'd rather have it on PC but my video card isn't up to snuff.

I read that they made it so that if you buy the OnLive version of The Witcher 2, then you get a DRM-free copy too, so if you're someone who doesn't have a computer strong enough to handle it now, but might in the future, this would be a good option.

Very much this. My PC isn't in any way, shape, or form good enough for gaming. Unless Steambox actually becomes a viable option, I'll have to be awkward with my Witcher play.

The only series I can think of where I love every single game in it is the Lego franchise beginning with Lego Star Wars. I cannot get enough of them. That's exceedingly rare for me to like them all - most of the time I like many games contained within a given series, but never all.

For example...

Zelda. Love 1, 2, Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages/Seasons, Majora's Mask. Hate Minish Cap, Ocarina of Time, Phantom Hourglass, Wind Waker, Skyward Sword and Spirit Tracks. Ooh, Zelda series is almost 50/50. Not so great of an example.

Mario. Love most of it, but not Mario 64 or Super Mario Sunshine. Despise Sunshine in fact. Love most of the spin-offs with him in it too.

Final Fantasy. Love 1-6 and 9. The rest of it can take a long walk off a short pier.

Castlevania. Symphony of the Night is my favourite game of all time. Don't really care for any of the games that came before it. Love the GBA/DS similar-to-but-never-really-quite-getting-there castle romps. Hate the 3D ones on N64/PS2. Not a huge fan of Lords of Shadow and Mirror of Fate is proving to be quite the letdown.

I guess I'm pretty polarized. Games in a series that I don't like, I REALLY don't like. It's not even about getting the "formula" from past games right, it's that even with the familiar branding peeled aside, the games just stink. Whether or not someone else likes those games is immaterial to me -- people are allowed to like bad games. :)

My two will probably be obvious:

1. Call of Duty - Loved the first one and played a bit of the second and that's it. I didn't bother with 3 since that was console only and then stopped giving a shit. I don' t hate the newer titles, I'm just not impressed.

2. Sonic the Hedgehog - I think this one's pretty obvious. I do like some of the "bad games" such as Sonic's 3D Blast and Sonic Heroes, though.
