Yeah grinding is so much easier on a handheld. I can grind on the couch, on the can, wherever...

I'm about to start Final Fantasy VI on FF Anthology for PS1. I keep hearing how incredibly amazing the game is. Hope it lives up to the hype.

Those load times... save yourself the trouble and play it on GBA or SNES! the loading times really kill it on the PS1 version, after playing the GBA/SNES versions youll want to never go back.

After disc and save issues, I've had to restart Dark Souls.
About to fight the Capra Demon. Still not totally sure on a lot of things in this game, but I'm moving at a much better pace.
I just hope I can control myself upon getting to Blighttown. Oh, how I hate Blighttown, its darkness, and how lost I become in it...

The load times are bad, but they honestly aren't really game breaking. The load times are more or less on par with the 3D FF games. If that's the only version he has, he'll probably be fine.
It's not like with Chrono Trigger where the load times kinda break the smooth flow of the game.
Don't let yourself go in TOO hyped BurningDoom. Sometimes a great game can never live up to the game you've built up in your head.

With the first Final Fantasy finished, I will be heading to FFV - GBA next.

Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
I've been playing The Last Story for a few days now, and am about 10 hours in. So far, I am really enjoying the game. The voice acting is pretty silly, and it has pretty heavy love-story tones, but I'm a sucker for that stuff.
The combat took some getting used to, as I was initially really bothered by the way attacking works. Once I got a bit further in though, I realized that the game is far from a hack-n-slash, and that hitting a button to attack doesn't really go with how the combat flows. Instead, I now have to make sure to make good use of difusing circles, tanking enemies, using corners to confuse enemies for extra damage, etc.

Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
This came in the mail recently, and despite starting FFVI, I've been eagerly awaiting this one and put FFVI aside for now. Legend of Legaia was one of my all-time favorite RPGs:

It's not a direct sequel to Legend of Legaia, which is a bit disappointing. And there are no more Seru or Ra-Seru. Instead there is a race of magic users called Mystics and these powerful mystical stones.
Regardless of the changes I'm still really enjoying it. It keeps the awesome battle system of the original game, and a lot of the same art sensibilities. But with an all-new story, all-new characters, and a shiny coat of PS2 graphics.
