no. I dont want to know what face would try to do. Honestly I havent talked to him in a while, is he doing ok?
Truth, he'd probably do something messy. He's ok now, though he and his wife have had a rough year. Her kidneys failed last year, but her mom donated one. The surgery was last month, and from what I've heard, the recovery has gone well.

Smile: My Mother is already back to "work" after having surgery on Friday. Modern medicine is amazing but too expensive.

Bonus Smile: My Mother in law called to see "what's up?". She also informed me that she purchased an antique sewing table for our den. She also apologized for forgetting our anniversary, which is a lot more than most family did.

Frown: Anniversary card count = 1, from my parents. Even my Sister didn't take time to mail a card. Oh well. It's no biggie, but I thought more family would give a shit.

I try and take my parents out to eat every year for their anniversary. They've been together since '81, so going on 32 years of marriage. They have had to deal with my brother and myself for 30 of those 32 years, so I figure I owe it to them to take them out for a nice evening. In all honesty thought, I only remember their anniversary, and my anniversary out of all the anniversaries in my family..

+1

I would actually be shocked if I got something from someone other than my wife for our anniversary. I see it as something more just between us. I have actually never experienced or observed anyone do anything beyond saying happy anniversary for someone else's anniversary...

Damn that sucks man. Crap like that is one of the reasons I'm apprehensive about looking for a house in the city.

My family sends out cards for St Patty's Day, and we're German. Every holiday is a bit of a hullabaloo, so I was a bit surprised that some of my family didn't send cards for our anniversary. Not complaining, I was only a bit surprised.

On the St. Patty's day thing... everybody I know who makes a big deal out of it isn't Irish, in any amount. I'm part, and it is mainly ignored.

On the cards for the anniversary. Personally, I hate getting cards in relation to any important life event, or any kind of "Thank You" card. It is nice knowing that they are taking the time and effort, but to me they seem so impersonal. Whenever possible, I'd rather give and receive congrats and such in person.

Houses in a city (or out in the country) generally do not have HOAs. (I live very close to downtown Charlotte, and none of the neighborhhods near me have them.) They are more of a suburbs thing.
