Really? The reason I ask is because I just received mine in the mail (bought off ebay) and I paid about $35.00 for it. I also got a sealed Jap copy of Christmas Nights for less that $10 shipping included. I'm not sure if I want to open them. I also gto a Jet Grind Radio new copy today but opened it since there seem to be a lot of new ones on ebay for very little.

If backups can be had on the internet, there's no reason to open anything you've bought. At least how I see it.

Wow, just read the article. It was very interesting as well as the posts.

On the topic of sealed games, I just like to buy them because they are less likely to be damaged. I hate buying used games just because I'd rather buy the disc new. The concept of buying sealed older games hasn't really affected until now since before, I only had the choice of purchasing new or used games that were current titles.

Now, I've started buying games for my Saturn and DC and i have to buy them used since sealed copies are more expensive. I'd rather have them sealed though. Now my problem is that when I do manage to buy sealed games, i just don't want to open them, knowing that they have been sealed for so long. For example, I just got a sealed copy of Nights and God do I want to play it. But I just can't open it but, at the same time I have this big urge to open it and play it.

The problem isn't as bad with my DC games since I can just buy them and to play them, I can just burn them. The only other sealed game I have is Ikaruga, only because I hate not having a physical copy (I have it on 360). I'm also thinking of getting Rez since I only have the 360 version.

I am by no means a collector, I just don't want to open the games. Now, I wish I'd gotten these games when they were current.

Keep 'em sealed - be a semi-collector. Rarity aside, if you ever do decide to sell them, it will net you more money than an opened copy. Your Dreamcast can play backups without modifications, so that's a plus. Your Saturn should probably be modded so you can play backups on it, unless you have a PC powerful enough to run the games on an emulator (use SSF if you can).

Of course, if you really, really want to see the box art, and really, really want to play the original copy, go ahead and play it. Without a backup copy, you're not just a sealed video game collector, you're OCD.
