What are some great games from the Pacman franchsie?

Post by Violent By Design »

I've always been a huge fan of Pacman (Vanilla arcade version and the Genesis Ms.Pacman port), and just the other day I got to try out the Pacman CE edition (ios port). Then had a discussion with my friends on how they should port over Pacman Vs (which I never played) to the Wii-U since it'd be a perfect 5 player game.

And just now I discovered Pacman Battle Royal. So what are some other cool Pacman games out there, you can include the 3Dish ones too since I'm interested if any of them are worth wild.

Also, when I one day hit the lotto I will buy Baby Pacman 8).

It's really Pac-Man in name only, but I really like Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures. It's not a maze or arcade style game at all, it's an adventure game with a point-and-click thing going on. You play as this omniscient slingshot and you "control" Pac-Man by drawing his attention to various things around him or manipulating them with said slingshot. It's definitely not for everyone, and I think a lot of people would just find it boring or frustrating, but eh, I liked it!

Probably not the sort of thing you were asking for, but hey it's technically Pac-Man!

I used to love that game as a kid, people used to play that on their Nomads in my school.

A lot of people seem to not like it though. I never really gave it any significant time in my adult years.

I honestly haven't given it a lot of playtime since renting the SNES port of it years and years back. I've got it sitting on my shelf though... I mostly just remember it being very different and interesting.

Pac-Man World on the PS1 is a good 3D platformer and a hidden gem
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Pac Man World was good? I remember wanting to check it out as a kid, but I never got around to it.

It's not really part of the Pac Man franchise proper, but FPS-Man is an interesting fan effort worth checking out for a few minutes. First person Pac-Man with weird atmospheric horror game music? Why not!

I'd suggest getting the Pac-Man Collection on Game Boy Advance, for it has my favorite titles - Pac-Mania & Pac Man Arrangement!

Gameplay footage of the first world (=4-6 levels?) of the game
Edit: Classic Game Room review

Like the review says, it's a very clever take on the whole Pac-Man thing and imo a very enjoyable platformer, but it is challenging and there are some annoying sudden deaths due to bad camera angles or not being able to judge the length of your jump as it's largely a 3D platformer (there are some 2D platforming sections though).

Oh yeah, Pac-Mania! It's basically isometric Pac-Man, and you can jump!
