No problem! Be sure to post pics of your NES after you're done. And let us know if you have any more questions!

Heres how it looks so far

I mean its nothing amazing and i still have to figure out how to put the logo / power / reset back on without it looking horrible. I have a basic silk screen kit that i think might work, just not sure what paint to use on it. Perhaps i could just spray paint over a stencil?

i rushed it a bit and should have been more patient (yet again)

Creating a stencil would be very hard, I would think. I never actually added logos back to consoles or controllers myself. I have looked into it in the past, but never came up with anything concrete. My original thoughts were to make a stencil and spray the logo on, but think about it. Take a look at how small the logos are, try to imagine cutting out those letters and whatnot with an X-Acto knife.

Some kind of transfer paper or whatever would be the best option. I looked up a few products, but it was years ago so I wouldn't be able to link you anything. I remember one in particular that I found on eBay. It was inkjet printable that you could apply to various things. It specified plastics and showed a picture of it on a candle. It looked promising to me.

There's a member here that has posted a few console paint jobs, and they look simply amazing. I can't remember his user name, but maybe some one else knows it. He posted the NES with the death mushroom on it, and I believe it the console was purple and black. The reason I bring it up is because, IIRC, he applied the logo back to the NES. I even remember asking him about it in the thread, though I don't remember what he told me. If any one remembers his username, then we can locate the thread and see what he said.

What ever you do (stencil, transfer paper, or silk screen) I would image that you would want to clear coat over it.

Ah very good.

I was thinking of using the emulsion method with silk screening. It does mention that it does a good job with the finer details (like small letters).

Thanks again for the replies

NES Stencils

Post by nickus9 »

I took a pic with my camera, went into photoshop, made everything ALMOST the correct size, adjusted the letters until they looked right.

you should be able to use emulsion, print these out on see through plastic paper, and then silk screen these babies on your system.

hopefully this is helpful to anyone out there looking for some NES stencils (i couldn't really find any)
