I'm never going to be able to look at anime the same way again!

I've already begun to have a hard time enjoying anime style anymore because of those freaky anime masks and girls that tweek their makeup to look like anime characters. Now this "precious moments" association. I just don't know if I can take it anymore.

Sorry about that! To its credit, not all anime looks like that...only the insufferable kind.

I just picked up this horrible little game.

I didn't know anything about it other than it seemed kind of rare and it's made by Konami, so I thought I would take a gamble on it. Gamble lost! I played about an hour and WOW, it's really boring. And the first little rhythm game it tries to get you to play is impossibly hard. It was over before I even figured out which buttons I was supposed to be pressing. Horrible.

^ Hm... A cover with a guy who looks like a cocky, overly extravagant banjo playing @$$ and a girl who looks completely ambivalent to whether or not you even pick up the game.

How could you go wrong!

Heh, I actually like Ephemeral Fantasia, but yeah, that artwork isn't the best. The thing about the game is that the first play through sucks because you really don't know what you are doing. After time begins looping, you can finally start getting an idea of what is going on, but it takes a while. And yeah, I didn't much care for the rhythm game aspect either.

Haha, nah, don't. It's intro is overly long, it received "average" reviews at the time of release, and it was originally slated to be a Dreamcast game but didn't make it in time, so I'm not surprised few folks play it or care for it. I always thought it was quirky, but then again I'm an odd duck.

I got Ephemeral Fantasia for like $6 years ago. I heard bad things and have yet to give it a spin.

I like how the cute little anime girl on the covers looks like she's grabbing the Konami logo.

I mentioned Golden Sun because it is the worst I have played. I tend to avoid games that are clearly poor quality, and I wouldn't nominate a game I haven't played.

Star Ocean the Last Hope.

It bungles pretty much everything. The combat system, which is great on paper, its brought down by poor balance and the fact that once your party comes together you can assemble a 4 man band that basically breaks the game wide open. Sure there are harder difficulties but you actually have to beat it before you get one where that makes a difference and screw that because the story and characters suck and the level design is half assed and unbearably boring. The synthesis system would have been really cool had you been allowed to use it longer, but by the time you get it you can pretty much start whipping up uber equipment shortly after and break the game even wider open.

Oh, and some garbage about how we only need to "evolve with our hearts" forms the philosophical crux of or hero's grand statement to the villain.

It's actually a competently made game in theory, but it royally screws everything up in execution to such a degree that is unforgivable, which makes it worse than stuff that is just outright bad like Magna Carta: Crimson Stigmata in my book.

Of course, there is a special place in hell for games like Ar tonelico Quohog: Indecipherable Faux Latin Gibberish.
