Virtua Racing on Genesis Doesn't Work

Anything that I can do to fix it? I got it at Goodwill. I got it home, and it doesn't work. It gives me the Licensed for Sega Genesis blah, blah screen that you see at the beginning of all Genesis games. But then the screen just goes black.

I tried to cleaning the cart, didn't help. Anything else I can do to fix it? Thought there might be some special trick or something that someone here would know, since it's not your typical Genesis cart.

The 'licensed by' screen is coming from the Genesis, not the cart. Early ones don't give it. Did you open the cart to clean it? Maybe it is still dirty and needs a harder scrub still. I seem to remember there were heat sinks inside as the VR chip would get pretty toasty, maybe it needs some attention inside.

Some games I've gotten before took some serious elbow grease. I use 91% isopropyl or Windex if I don't have that around. And by elbow grease I mean cleaning it to the point where you're not pulling up any sort of dirt. Like the guy above me said it may also need some attention on the inside of the cart. I highly doubt the cartridge itself doesn't work. Also be sure to clean the connector on the Genesis too

What genesis system do you have?

That game has a special chip in it, and its sensitive on which console its in.

Virtua Racing will not work on a genesis 3.

Remove the 32X if using it. This game has compatibility issues.

Nope, no 32X.

Looks like my only option then is to find one of those cartridge openers on eBay and open it up and see if the inside needs cleaning, like suggested.
