Re: Dreamcast Motherboards, which plays backups ? , KATANA VA1 ,
Sorry, this is my first post here, isn't it funny how time flies? I can remember getting my Dreamcast from a pawnshop, I think in late 2000, by that time, the console was fading but I thought it was still the coolest thing. It seems like yesterday I had it. Now, I wish I still had it, frankly I don't even know what happened to mine, probably lost when moving is my guess. Now I am searching for another one... haha. It's really a shame this console didn't stick around, I know when the ps2 came out with its extra features and whatnot it was the consumers choice, but it still kind of boggles my mind how hard it fell in a short time. As kids we all thought it was the coolest thing when it came out, and for 16 months or so it was the best thing out there, you would of thought it may have built up a big enough following that it could have survived. I guess a combination of mistakes for Sega led to their downfall.

I'm with you there.. I have asked tons of my friends that have DC's here and everyone I talk to is still playing all their shmups backups :]marurun wrote:I don't think I've met or chatted with anyone who had a Dreamcast model that didn't play burns, so I'm not sure how reliable the whole later revision thing is.

so dreamcasts will play burned games without doing any kind of mod to them?

Yep. I've had experiences where some of them are pickier about the media you use, but in general if you use good media then you'll have no problem.

Some media is better than other.. The dreamcast uses CDR's .. I wouldent get a pack of 100 from wallmart for $5.00. I mainly use Verbatim for all my CDR, DVD and DVD-DL needs and I have never had a problem. There is a huge difference in the quality of CDs/DVDs.disorderlyvision wrote:Funk, E wrote:Yep.
