Favorite TV intros (remember when shows had those?)

Favorite TV intros (remember when shows had those?)

Post by Gamerforlife »

I mentioned in an other thread how a lot of shows today, including cartoons, have done away with intros. In light of this, what are some of your favorite TV intros? Some of mine:

Angel(From season 3, I mostly love this for the music)

Batman Beyond(Always thought this had a real edgy feel to it)

Chuck(Cool visual style, fun to watch, with a catchy tune, this one wins points for creativity)

Dead Like Me (funny)

Fresh Prince of Bel Air(Because we all knew the words by heart  )

Battlestar Galactica - Reboot season 1 intro (Love how they always had scenes from the episode you were about to watch. That's clever)

Justice League original intro(So iconic, which sums up DC super heroes)

Highlander (You all remember that badass Queen song)

Many anime series still have long ass intros. That being said, off the top of my head, these come to mind
Neo Genesis Evangelion
Dragon Ball Z. I also like the American Rock the Dragon (and the original Japanese) intro but I grew up with the European version, which is awesome too.
Raw is War (WWF Attitude-era) intro
Raw intro (Ruthless Aggression era, Across the Nation)
Around the world with Willy Fog. Damn that English dub sounds gay as hell. It's not the one I grew up with, but since this is an English speaking board I'll link that one
Quack pack. Edgy (in a 90s type of way) and energetic, I don't like the English version as much as the one I grew up with but it's good.
Twin Peaks. Beautiful, calm song.
Spider-man intro (1994)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (season 1&2)
Men in Black (the cartoon series) So stylish
Biker Mice from Mars embodiment of 90s bad-assery
Beyblade
Digimon The dub we got was legendary awful, but atleast the season 1 had the Japanese intro song (not the Japanese singing, sadly) rather than the boring American opening song.

I always was partial to the Firefly Intro

Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM) - PRETTY MUCH THE COOLEST THING I COULD IMAGINE EXISTING WHEN I WAS A KID
The Powerpuff Girls - I love how it totally conveys everything you need to know about the show in a minute.

And I saw this earlier today and have to share: Breaking Bad

The intro to Dexter is the best intro on a modern TV show I think.

Damn! Epic post Retrodude!

Batman the Animated Series went through a number of changes over the course of its run, from character designs, to slight changes in the art style, to changing the name of the show, to different intros, etc. This, to me, is the best of all the intros they used. It's epic and memorable:

Genshiken: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oxu69hOpy-4
Winnie The Pooh cartoon was great but I think the intro song was kinda boring. I was actually wondering whether I should include Scooby Doo and Johnny Quest or not. Scooby Doo is so catchy and Johnny Quest is just epic, but I don't remember anything at all from what the actual show was like. I liked Genshiken but feel that the intro song is at first awesome but starts to suck once the singing starts.
