Yeah, we need another over-head Zelda game WITHOUT FREAKIN TOUCH CONTROLS!!!

Stupid Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks was ruined for me...

For me it would be
Red Dead Redemption-Got told the ending and lost motivation to finish it after that

Dragon Quest 8-Memory Card Stolen

FF6-I have tried so many times and i get so bored in the second world that by the time I pick it back up i forget who the characters are and why they were important.

Mike Tysons Punch Out- not for lack of trying. I think I would cry if I managed to beat it.

I think I would have the same problem if I went back and tried to play it over again as an adult. there are alot of area that just drag on and I feel it doesnt hold a candle to Link to the Past.

Never finished FF 7, 8, or 9!

Well this is more of a case of getting bored at the end than too awesome.

These "Games Not Beaten" threads make me feel way better about not finishing some of the best games I've ever played. I'm pretty shocked to read some of the games others never finished, but then I think about my own list and instantly want to go back and try to finish them, but I just know that I'll either get bored or too distracted with life.

Probably my biggest disapointments with not finishing a game or series is the unfortunate mistake I made with .hack//Outbreak on PS2. I had just gotten the last part of that disc, and was thrilled to finally get to pop in my fresh copy of 'Quarantine' I managed to grab out of Wal-Mart's bargin bin (Super lucky find and only $15). I had just started living with my mother, and had a little brother who liked playing video games as well. I always kept my games out of reach, and put the memory card in the current game I was playing... except for this one time. I had just gotten home from school when I heard somebody in my room playing on my PS2. Why he decided to do this, I'll never know, because he had his own PS2 and hated the games I played. Confusion aside, I walked into the room to see him (trying) to play .hack//. After kicking him out of my room I frantically rebooted and started digging though my memory card looking for my saved games.
There was one save left... ONE out of all the games I had played over the past year. It was from the first part of the series, .hack//Infection. I had invested way too much time in exploring everything I could in that game just to start over like that.

I stll have all those games, and have been meaning to go back and play them again, now that I'm done sulking over the lost data. It only took, what, nearly ten years?

Aside from my tragic story, there are still a slew of other games I started, loved, but never finsihed.

Earthbound/Mother 2 - I've restarted this series a countless number of times. Never got passed the last stage "Cave of the Past" before the last boss battle. Even had the strategy guide. :|

Final Fantasy Whatever - I think I've played just about every game in the series. I've only beaten Tactics and Final Fantasy X-2 (I'm one of the few that actually liked that game).

Pokemon - "Beat" all of them up to Ruby. "Caught'em all" and finished the last fight of each game up until that point. Lost my game carts in Hurricane Katrina, and never picked up another.

Super Godzilla - After years of getting stuck at Biolante as a kid, I picked up the game again in my teens and played to the end. Bagan is impossible to defeat...

One game that haunts me to this day is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanic:_Adventure_Out_of_Time on the pc. (It was a point and click adventure game, where you apparently traveled back in time.)
Spoiler following:
Near the very freaking end of the game, when the ship is sinking you come to a point where a lady gives you her baby, and then further on a man attempts to take the baby, with all options you choose leading to death. A lot of the ship is inaccessible now due to flooding and I just cannot figure out any other possible routes. I always get stuck at this point.

I just can't sleep at night knowing I've never finished it, and while I'm sure theres a gamefaq somewhere and the solution is probably stupidly simple, I refuse to turn to one. It's a matter of pride. But I'm starting to get desperate, years after the fact.

Grandia 2. Great game must of had close to 50 hours into it. I knew i was close to the end. Stop playing for a bit then my nephew accidently deleted my save! I just didn't have the will power to play the entire game again.

Similar thing happened to me, except my DC died, and eventually I sold off most of my collection. Years later I got a copy of the PS2 release, loaned it to a friend before I got into it and never got it back.

I even found a copy of the PC version, but could never get it to run on any of my PCs.

Last year I picked up another DC and a copy of Grandia 2, but I still haven't started a new game. Hell, I still haven't finished the first Grandia, no real reason there, I just took a break and now I can't remember what I was doing in it.

Besides those: Illusion of Gaia, The battery died, taking my save with it, replaced it but haven't gone back to it.

Gradius 3 is another one, but that's mainly due to difficulty. Once a year I still get into it, get to some part I get stuck on, then give up for another year.

Felt it was hard to get into this game at first, but once i got to the Magmoor caverns it started to flow just right, and then i saved the game thinking i would come back to its awesomeness, and never did... i definitely need to start a new game and finish this one. Also Love the GC Controls for this game and hate the Wii Controls

A little late on this, but you are literally the only other person I have ever meet that has prefered the GC controls. The Wii controls make my hand cramp up and I can't do things nearly as fast.
