I don't think it matched the brilliance of BSG's best episodes, but I think they successfully captured the feel of the show and came up with an Adama origin story that is believable. I really, really enjoyed the space battles. That may one of the things I miss most about BSG, or even some of the old Star Trek shows like TNG and DS9. There's no shows around with epic space combat anymore it seems.
Did you ever watch Space: Above and Beyond? It might help serve as a nice holdover for you.
I didn't even know about that series. I'll try and check it out. Thanks

I cannot say too much, but if it does not get picked up by mid this year, we are pulling the script and making it ourselves. I have had the script out for a while and my agent said no one is biting. They just dont think that epic scifi is viable at the moment. If I do it, we are kicking it old school - think Battle of Yavin styled dogfights with real models. We would only use CG to enhance what we already have.

I mean, I dislike the trend of sci-fi movies just turning into horror midway, but at least most of them are fairly clear on that. Sunshine comes to mind as one that wasn't as much, and that one annoyed me. As a counter-example...while I really though Pandorum could have done a ton more with the overarching plot than what it wound up with, I wasn't surprised by it based on the marketing/writeup.

Movie I watched yesterday was Sound of My Voice. I though it was okay.
I loved Sunshine, but I hated Event Horizon.

Let's just say I think they made the right decision not to make a series of it...

Caprica on the other hand... :(

That sounds awesome! I love space dogfights. They're so epic and chaotic. You never know who is getting shot down and I just love those quick shots back to the bridge with the commander trying to stay on top of all the chaos with all the radio chatter coming in, then shots back to the action as a ship blows up just as someone is saying, "I can't shake him! I need......" Radio silence. I feel like BSG was the last show to really have that.

That sounds excellent. I love watching old sci-fi and horror films to see how they pulled off the special effects when they didn't have CGI to fall back on. With filmmakers using CG for everything these days, it seems to me that special effects aren't so special anymore and that's a real shame. We need another Stan Winston or Tom Savini to shake things up and prove that you don't have to spend a gazillion dollars to impress the viewer, you just have to be really clever and make the most of what you've got. Good luck, man. I hope you'll keep us posted about how things are coming along.

Short, but good. But then again, I was also playing a video game at the same time.

Got it, along with Robot Wars, during the Valentine's Day Sale on Full Moon's online store.

But got distracted by putting some of my new DVDs into my DVD case and more focused on that to give this my full attention, but I can say it's not bad. It's a pretty good bad movie, but the Full Moon Grindhouse Collection DVD is apparently a VHS transfer (as indicated prior to the film starting, which I guess is also done on all Full Moon Grindhouse Collection DVDs).

What the hell did I just watch?!? That was less a film and more a surrealist fever dream with a horror story attached.
