F-Zero AX in its entirety is hidden in F-Zero GX

Post by AppleQueso »

EDIT: Well, maybe not in its entirety, but still a cool find. :P

Just recently been discovered:
http://www.retrocollect.com/News/hacker ... ro-gx.html

You can access it via an AR code. Awesome!

I need to pick this game up again...

Again, it's not 100 percent identical to the arcade version, here's some differences:
theclaw wrote: Anyway what appears changed I know about thus far:
GX title screen
missing LAN feature
no prompt to insert coins
incomplete translation (arcade AX had a fully English version)
no way to insert license cards
no test menus
This page has the AR codes, along with Gecko/Ocarina codes for use in a soft-modded Wii.

EDIT: The title screen code has been found now. The page I linked to should have the most current, up-to-date version of the code. I wonder if they'll find all the other missing features?

Does it enable LAN play though? If so Ill go buy two more BBAs. LAN Fzero AX is a site to behold and simply awesome.

Who knows? You'd probably have to test that out yourself...

Video shows GP and Time attack as the only options. Ill have to play around with it and see if it can be enabled.

Edit:
Had to refresh my memory. Fzero AX will only show VS on the menu if you have two to four cabs hooked up. I might fire up dolphin on two pcs tonight and give this a try. If so, screw all of my other projects (sans painting the house).

It's not quite everything. Still uses a GX title screen, no mention of credits, missing the "This game is only to be used in Japan..." notice.

Unfortunately there's no Japanese (or Korean if different) code yet. And the PAL version code we have doesn't appear to work on real hardware. While I don't own a PAL Gamecube, PAL GX, or PAL AR version, my US AR v1.06 considered the PAL code invalid.

Very cool. I guess one day I'll need to pick up an AR device and check this out for myself. Maybe I'll even suck it up and beat GX's story mode! :)
