Hey guys, we talk a lot about fighting games, but what are some of your favorite brawlers for the SNES? Do you feel Final Fight Guy is superior to the Final Fight port which tragically left him out? Does Ultimate Fighter get you going, or do you prefer to smash xenomorph faces in Aliens Vs. Predator? And which of the Rushing Beat series is the best in your opinion? Or would you rather talk hack and slash, like Magic Sword, Legend, or King of Dragons?
And yes, I'm totally thinking about going home and playing Brawl Brothers some.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time
just tossing that out right now because it's an obvious one

This is also my number one choice. I also like Super Double Dragon, although I may the only one...) and the "Rival Turf" trilogy (i.e., Rival Turf, Brawl Brothers, and The Peacekeepers, the best in the series). Knights of the Round and The Combatribes is also a sold choice for a SNES beat 'em up.AppleQueso wrote:Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time

Also...Bebe's Kids. It is as close as the SNES got to simulating the pain of an actual punch to the face.

I'd say Pit-Fighter did it better, but I have yet to play Bebe's Kids.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Also...Bebe's Kids. It is as close as the SNES got to simulating the pain of an actual punch to the face.
So The Peace Keepers...I own it, along with Brawl Brothers (no Rival Turf yet), but is it worth intentionally seeking out for fans of the genre? I haven't spent too much time with it, and I know that the story was mangled heavily from the Rushing Beat series.

Pit-Fighter is broken - and I consider it more of a one-on-one fighter - but Bebe's Kids is just plain bad. It is a video game, based on a movie, based on a stand-up comedy routine, that wasn't funny to begin with. Unless you are a fan of bad games, I would avoid it.Ack wrote: I'd say Pit-Fighter did it better, but I have yet to play Bebe's Kids.
It's pretty good. If you are a fan of the genre, you could do worse on the SNES...particularly with Rival Turf. It is the worst in the series.Ack wrote:So The Peace Keepers...I own it, along with Brawl Brothers (no Rival Turf yet), but is it worth intentionally seeking out for fans of the genre? I'm a big fan of the entire SNES Final Fight series. It's one of those games I never experienced elsewhere. I can take any of them and beat them in a single satisfying sitting. TMNT IV is obviously amazing, and I also enjoy the X-Men one as well. I wish I could be Wolverine or Gambit in more games.

Did you ever try Wolverine: Adamantium Rage for the Super Nintendo?irixith wrote:I'm a big fan of the entire SNES Final Fight series. It's one of those games I never experienced elsewhere. That X-Men game is pretty nice. To this day I'm not sure why it has such a poor reputation.irixith wrote:I'm a big fan of the entire SNES Final Fight series. There's a couple of X-Men games though. X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse is an awesome game, but are we talking about that or the dreaded Arcade's Revenge?AppleQueso wrote:That X-Men game is pretty nice. Mutant Apocalypse, of course. I've just seen a generally negative attitude towards it around the web. Dunno why, I think it's pretty great.Ack wrote:There's a couple of X-Men games though. I used to have Arcade's Revenge as a kid, and that was pretty bad.
