Yeah, Event Horizon is a haunted house in space...so what? Who decided haunted house movies are bad? You guys didn't like movies like Poltergeist or House on Haunted Hill?

Doesn't change the fact that the movie ruins itself by changing into something really dumb.
Seriously, the scene with the dead wife with the 12" nipples, wtf was that.

I for one didn't even realize this was a horror movie when I was watching it for the first time and had pretty much the same reaction.indecks wrote:elmagicochrisg wrote:Then your argument is invalid...indecks wrote:I've never been a fan of horror, so I just found it dumb.

Oh well, we can't all like the same things. I'm glad I liked it...

To me, Event Horizon never really represented itself as something other than a horror flick. It's like Solaris meets Hellraiser. If you want a tamer version, watch Solaris.
I mean, I dislike the trend of sci-fi movies just turning into horror midway, but at least most of them are fairly clear on that. Sunshine comes to mind as one that wasn't as much, and that one annoyed me. As a counter-example...while I really though Pandorum could have done a ton more with the overarching plot than what it wound up with, I wasn't surprised by it based on the marketing/writeup.
Movie I watched yesterday was Sound of My Voice. I though it was okay.

So anyone have any thoughts on BSG Blood and Chrome? I've noticed some sites that covered it liked it, others hated it. I don't think it matched the brilliance of BSG's best episodes, but I think they successfully captured the feel of the show and came up with an Adama origin story that is believable. I really, really enjoyed the space battles. That may one of the things I miss most about BSG, or even some of the old Star Trek shows like TNG and DS9. There's no shows around with epic space combat anymore it seems.

Did you ever watch Space: Above and Beyond? It might help serve as a nice holdover for you.Gamerforlife wrote:So anyone have any thoughts on BSG Blood and Chrome?
