So I was the attempted Victim of a phone scam today

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

My home phone is an antique bright red rotary phone, so I have no caller ID. I don't mind answering every call as hanging up is just as easy as picking up. But I will say 90% of the calls I get are junk calls.

You kids and your porn. When I was growing up we had to use or imagination, and we liked it!

I answer all calls. I get job offer calls and have had several other calls in the past that I wouldve not liked to miss had I had a phone call screening policy.

I doubt it. They can use automated dialers to just do:

111-111-1111
111-111-1112
111-111-1113
etc
Maybe. These aren't automated calls, though. There's a real live asshole on the other end. In some cases people said they already knew personal info, such as their address, etc.

When searching the number I came across a site where people commented on their experiences with the calls. One guy made a point that made a lot of sense:
"The Do Not Call List has become the problem, not the solution. They make the lists available free of charge to telemarketers so they know who not to call. In fact, the FTC is providing telemarketers a list of good, live telephone numbers that they would otherwise have to pay for."

My father in law gets calls like this sometimes, and he likes to mess with the guys trying the scam. One time he pretended like he was going along with all of the dudes instructions, but not really doing anything and the scammer was getting all frustrated that he wasnt allowing him remote access to his computer. Basically wasted his time for a bit.

My idea was to transfer him all around my "Department" which would just be me changing my voice. And Putting him on hold using this as the hold music with my volume turned way WAY up

Nothing kills ear drums like Dubstep.

Wait wait...

You're 31...and you still download porn?

For fucks sake, on many sites you can watch full scenes . What is the point of having a trace of your download? Do you really re watch the same scene over and over?

I interrupt them and ask "Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior?"

Almost every one hangs up :)
