So I was the attempted Victim of a phone scam today

Post by TheRev »

This one to be exact http://www.thebraziltimes.com/story/1908209.html
I hung up on the guy and blocked the number though my caller ID.

But I regretted doing so after, I felt like I should have fucked with the Foreign con artist on the other end.

Why do I always think of these things AFTER the fact?

I knew it was a scam right away because they said "We're calling in rearguards to your computer" well...we have at least 6 in this house second he said "We believe you have downloaded junk files"

The Irony, when they called I was in fact, downloading Porn. But it was a coincidence.

Should I have screwed with the guy for a bit? if it was you, how would you mess with him?

Well, I will say that it's certainly one of the more creative scams I've seen in recent years.
Although in 2013 it's hard to believe anyone would ever give a credit card number over the phone. But then again, I'm proven wrong again and again that people do fall for this stuff.

Phone scams are way too common and something should probably done about them. I'm also not fond of the telemarketers, surveyors, and political calls. You wanna know how I deal with all these issues?

I don't own a phone.

Every guy should keep a private stash stored on an external hard drive in case of a prolonged internet outage.

Did the caller ID say "Skype User"?
Because that was calling me a few weeks ago.

...but they kept calling every 5-10 minutes for what felt like hours. :x
When I searched the number online it came up with that "Microsoft scam" thing.

The annoying thing is I actually pay an extra few bucks a month for my number to be "unlisted." Apparently these "do not call" lists are how they get their numbers. Because scammers don't give a fuck.

I doubt it. They can use automated dialers to just do:

111-111-1111
111-111-1112
111-111-1113
etc
