The problem with the X'eye and CDX is the sound quality. The model 1 simply has the best sound. The Xeye and CDX trail closely. The only only other option is the model 2 cd with the model 1 genesis...which look dreadful and takes up a TON of space.

Heh. Yeah it's sexy all right...and a bit too salty for my blood. I like my retro gaming, but I have my limits and $700 for a genesis/sega cd is just to much for me.
