Concept for a movie for fans of Asian action films

Post by REPO Man »

Aesthetically, it'll be a composite of Asian action films, Japanese hero shows, and a theoretical R-rated live action Naruto fused with elements of Ninja Gaiden.

The story starts with a young teenage runaway who finds herself in the middle between two modern-day ninja clans in New York City. One is a group of do-gooders, sort of like the Ninja Turtles but human. The other is a group of evil thugs who abuse their ninja prowess for personal gain.

Here's the characters (note: none of the characters have names yet):

* The main character. A runaway girl. Incredibly smart. Played by Ellen Page (Hard Candy, JUNO).
* The sensei of the good clan. As a teenager in England, he was very troublesome and and extremely violent and hedonistic. He ran away from home at age 15 and bummed around Europe and Asia. But one day, he messed with the wrong people and was brutally attacked and left for dead. But he was taken in by a ninja clan who took him in and helped him find focus in his life. Now, he seeks penance for his sins by helping other lost souls find meaning in their life. Sort of a mix of Mr. Miyagi and Obi-Wan, with a mix of Dumbledore and Splinter. Played by Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Doomsday, Rob Zombie's Halloween).
* Former pickpocket turned ninja. Played by JP Pitoc (Trick, Thank You and Good Night).
* Former lawyer left blind after a fire claimed his family. His senses are actually so acute, they actually make him MORE efficient than he was with his sight. Played by Anthony Rapp (RENT, Road Trip, Open House).
* Petty thug trying to make amends. Played by either Rick Yune (Fast and Furious, Die Another Day) or John Cho (Harold and Kumar, Off Centre, Star Trek prequel).
* The sensei of the evil clan. Once the good clan sensei's prize pupil, he turned evil when he revealed that all he wanted power. He's quite powerful and well-versed in dark arts, and is both hedonistic and inflicted by many insecurities, including an inferiority complex. Played by John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the Angry Inch).
* Member of the evil clan. Description TBA.

I'm sorry, what?

This isn't even a finished post, and certainly not an outline for a film.

Well I can't very well say anything more about the plot other than "two rival ninja clans clash in modern-day New York City". I mean, WTF do you want, the ending? Cuz I already got the ending worked out, as well as the penultimate climax.

I mean I just want, y'know, an outline. Or even a real concept. This is just pipe-dream casting for poorly-drawn characters in a list that isn't even finished.

NO, cuz then that just perpetuates the stereotype that all Asians know martial arts.
