Good work. That game gets downright nasty at the end. I can usually breeze through most of the game, but frustration sets in when I get to the final three bosses.

Thanks buddy.

When I lose the jumpn'slash on the last level, I almost "lose it". It is as bad a feeling as forgetting to save your game in The Legend of Zelda.

I have screenshots from some of the other games I've beaten this year, something I think I'll keep posting with each game beaten. Can be difficult to do though, as my crappy pics show.

I've been slacking off on actually finishing games this year, but so far:

1/27 - Mutant Mudds (3DS) - Incredible game, ended up finishing it over 2 nights. The hidden rooms get to be brutal, but apart from one stage with a trap at the very end, it's never unfair.

1/28 - Gunman Clive (3DS) - Fun game, for a cheap price, can't go wrong.

3/06 - Bit.Trip Runner 2 (Steam) - I was a big fan of the first one, and the sequel is even better. It's nowhere near as punishing in difficulty in regards to perfects and bonus levels but getting triple perfect+'s on every level is going to take a while, mainly due to my inability to aim that damn cannon.

I hit a bit of a wall on the last stretch of the last stage and had to walk away from the console for a while. I wasn't dying left and right, rather I hadn't died once until I got to the middle of the last stage, and then I died at the same darned spot, and I was really hoping I would beat the game without using a continue.

I also got a phone call while the ending was playing, but I was able to snap a few pictures of the ending sequence.

One of these days I need to beat Ninja Gaiden 3 and update this thread. It's the only one in the NES trilogy I never beat. NG II is my favorite. I must have beaten that one a million times.

Play the Japanese version of that game on an emulator if possible. Tecmo cheaply and unnecessarily cranked up the difficulty on that one for the American release. (If I recall correctly, Tecmo increased the amount of damage that you take from enemies, deceased the "invincibility" period after taking a hit, limited the number of continues, and otherwise broke a perfectly good Ninja Gaiden game.)

I do agree, however, that Ninja Gaiden II is the best. I played that game so much as a kid I can play through the first half of the game in my sleep.

Any specific reasons why? I might as well play NGII tonight* since I'm hot off of the original, but I was disappointed with II at its release. It felt a bit more Sunsoft than Tecmo, if that makes an ounce of sense.

*I half to place half the blame on the reason I'm not playing current-gen games on this forum. As soon as I plan to unseal one of my many new 360 games, someone posts "I beat Duck Tales" or "Can you beat Ninja Gaiden?" and my 360 takes a back seat.

Thanks for that.

Don't take the bait, Luke. No man can beat either Bayou Billy or Silver Surfer. They are both completely broken.

OK...here is why I think Ninja Gaiden II is the best in the NES series:

* better graphics
* better music/sound
* smoother gameplay
* smoother difficulty curve
* better cut scenes
* awesome reveal/twist in back half of game

Basically, Ninja Gaiden II is to Ninja Gaiden what The Empire Strikes Back is to Star Wars. That is, it improves on Ninja Gaiden without taking away anything that made the original so great.

I loved the power up giving you those ninja shadows that follow you. Don't think I've seen that in any other game

Stage 3-2 music is amazing
