*Note to self, extra defensive driving this weekend*
 No, I won't be driving in Houston. Its an FFA thing, my Ag teacher will be drving... although, I still would be wary.

First is obviously the language (yes, I want english, I don't care if people think that's wrong).
While I usually go for the original language option, I prefer to watch most comedies in English. Sometimes the comedy bits don't hit you just right when you end up having to read the jokes.

And while I wouldn't hold my breath for a release, I'd still keep my fingers crossed. There are a couple of series that I watched long before they were released that I thought would never get a release over here. So there's always hope.

:D We're moving to Orlando in a few weeks. We're leaving on the 19th, since we have to move into our new house (it's a rental) on the 20th

:D My mom heard back from Disney World and she's hired!

:) Pawned some demo discs for a buck apiece, and altogether got $11

:( It didn't last very long

:( One thing I bought was a tote to hold my Sega CD, but it was too small. Turns out the measurements on the label were the dimensions from the outside, not the inside. I'm hoping I can at least get a refund tomorrow.

:| Gonna give my two-week notice and try to empty my 401(k) at Food Lion tomorrow

:( But only because the person I gotta talk to about that wasn't there this afternoon.

:) Still gotta get rid of a lot of my unneeded shit. Posted some stuff on Craigslist and have only heard from one of my two ads. Still gotta get rid of some other stuff, including some books, a shitload of comics, a GameCube with some games and a GameBoy Player (but no controllers or AC adapter), and a big lot of disc-only PC games.

Needless to say I'm all twitterpated about this, as I've been really hoping for Ranma on Blu ray.

What's cool is that it seems the set is region free, so I could buy it if I wanted. There are two problems though.

First is obviously the language (yes, I want english, I don't care if people think that's wrong). Second is the cost. Amazon is selling it for 33,000 yen, marked down from 45,000. Even at amazon's lower price, you're looking at a thousand bucks for a complete set, which, mind you, does not include the OVA series or the movies. I'm aware that such prices are typical for japanese media, but its still way the hell out of my price range.

So I was happy, and now I'm sad. I guess I'll just have to sit and hope that Viz will take these sets and release them here.

Yeeaaah, that's probably not gonna happen. :(
Geez that's gotta be a gigantic set.
It is pretty big. The series comes out to 161 episodes, spread across 3 volumes at 350 bucks a pop (which is discounted remember).

Its heartbreaking really.

What's funny though is that the anime was canned (production company went under) long before the manga concluded. It only told half of the story.

If they had finished it properly, it'd be twice the size.
BoneSnapDeez wrote:Is every season on DVD in the US at least? I only have season 1, I recall that some of the later seasons got pricey.
Yes, it is. They finished it many years ago, and the manga finished a few years after that.

The sets have held their value though. The original versions still sell for over 100 bucks, and the thinpak re-releases go for around 50.

Granted, I have the whole series. Unfortunately, I bought bootleg FX versions without knowing they were bootlegs (I was not knowledgeable about the anime bootleg world at the time), but still.

Because of that though, I've always intended to buy the official releases and balance it out, but I've been holding out hope for Blu Ray sets.
Ranma's a pretty big property, so I wouldn't lose out hope of seeing the blu rays show up here.

It'll probably be way more reasonably priced than the Japanese sets. Japanese media is crazy expensive.

The anime Ranma 1/2 was only half the story?

Smile: Got a lot done today.

Frown: I hate fasting. I also hate "the prep".

Smile: But after my endoscopy and colonoscopy I can go eat a huge delicious burger and milk shake whilst being a bit doped up from the procedure.

Oh definitely. I'd say that if they released it here, they'd probably cut it into the same seven "seasons" they used for the dvd sets, probably at 50-70 bucks each. Not cheap, but fantastic in comparison.

Why is this stuff so expensive in japan anyway? Its crazy.

Super Huge LMAO Smile:

I had this exchange with an elderly lady while in line at Lowe's Foods:

Lady: Excuse me Sir, I wanted to say that that is a beautiful sweater.

Me: That is very kind of you.

Lady: It's nice to see someone from your generation in something other than jeans and a t-shirt. Kids don't try their best to look nice these days.

Me: I try to look presentable. Perception is reality after all.

Lady: I have a Grandson who is also gay.

Me: Isn't that fabulous?

Lady: I hope you go to a church that is accepting of your life style. I don't know what the big deal is.

Me: Neither do I. I hope you have a great week.

I don't know why, but something about her thinking I'm gay because I was wearing an argyle sweater with matching socks is still making me laugh. It may be as simple as I like old people and old people assumptions. That, and the look on the cashier's face when the lady said "I have a gay Grandson" was priceless.

Reminds me of when I worked as a bagboy at Kroger. An old lady walked up and asked me for help getting a 24-pack of Coca-cola.

Lady: Thank you for helping me, young man. I've been drinking this stuff for as long as I've been alive.

Me: Yes ma'am, happy to help.

Lady: You know, back when I was a child, they used to make this stuff with real cocaine in it?

Me: I had heard they used to, ma'am.

Lady: And I think they still do. Put another 24-pack in, please.
