Re: Need some TV Series on Netflix recommendations
Just finished Heroes; Season 1.
No worries about starting season 2, by episode 20 we were starting to tire of it.
First 3-4 episodes were very promising, middle of the season was strong, and then about episode 17 it just started getting annoying, for these reasons:
With the exception of Sylar and Mr. Bennett, none of the actors were enjoyable to watch for multiple episodes, well, McDowell was solid in his small role. And wow - so many mouth-breather actors, particulary Ali Larter and whoever played Peter Petrelli, it was awful.
Hiro went from: endearing-->ok, we get it, yr cute and say things funny--->seriously, airlock this dude.
Mohinder's character doing the voice-overs, saying the lamest things in the British-Indian accent as if that makes it sound profound, was horrid.
Perhaps the most frustrating thing, and a result of watching it on netflix of course, there was SO MUCH repeating of scenes, the last 3-4 minutes of each episode was the first 3-4 minutes of the next episode...literally, it wasn't a recap, they literally played the entire scene "in case you forgot", which in our case...we just saw this 5 minutes ago...we know Hiro panicked...again, we got it.
Anyways, we were glad season 1 ended, all in all it was "ok" and I imagine watching it week to week when it was first on, probably would have been "very good".
At any rate, on to ST: TNG.

Hey Mike how do you feel about Malcolm in the Middle? I just started watching Raising Hope, it's a lot like Malcolm, it even has quite a few of the same actors. There's two seasons on netflix and I've been enjoying it before bed there past week.

^^We've seen all the new Doctor Who stuff.
Malcolm, good, not great (for us).
We started Star Trek TNG 2 nights ago, it was ok, gonna give it some more time.
We also watched "Drive" last night and my man-crush on Ryan Gosling continues - he is so good.

You should play Hotline Miami. It's the closest you'll ever get to a Drive video gamemjmjr25 wrote:^^We've seen all the new Doctor Who stuff.

TNG takes some time to get good as I recall. I don't think its first season really impressed most people

Re: Need some TV Series on Netflix recommendations
If you like serials, I'd recommend Murder One. I'm watching it now for the first time since it originally aired and it's just as good as I remember. It not so much a traditional TV series as it is a novel-for-television with a beginning, middle and end that primarily follows a single trial over the course of 23 episodes. Given that much breathing room, there's a depth and level of realism that most legal shows lack and for fans of the genre, that's a good thing (it's apparently so accurate that some law schools actually require their students to watch it as part of their coursework, which I think is kind of cool).
I'm not a glitch, I just have pixlexia.

I always thought the highlight episode of the series was the one where Parkman and Nuclear man break into the Bennet's house and hold them hostage for answers. The idea of people with powers doing something other than putting on costumes and running around saving the world was what made heroes interesting. Dealing with real life situations, etc. By season 2 everyone is just gallivanting around the world on adventures with no jobs, responsibilities, or anything.
