What car do you drive?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Thanks. It's my baby, I've had it since '09. I got as far as getting the engine resealed, then I kinda put off fixing it up any further, mostly due to a trip to Europe/England, then a few other circumstances made me not focus on it as much. Needless to say, once I get my garage cleaned out and a few new work benches added, I'm gonna start working on the 'ol girl a lot more. It needs new brakes, a claybar, a 4 barrel intake and carb, new tires, and an exhaust system, then it'll be my daily driver for a while. It really needs a lot more than just those things, but to get it running, that will do for now. I plan on giving it to my son once he gets much, much older and can appreciate it.

That's a kick ass truck, puke_face.

What engine is that running though? I know those step sides with 454's or Ford 460's can really get away from you. They're also better for making 'rods out of, or, in the case of the apocalypse:

(Okay, its a fleetside, but I wanted to use that picture really badly.)

That's not my actual truck, it's very similar in paint job and rims, but mine has the factoy stance, not dropped at all, and a few other things.

It's a crate 350 V8 with a TH350 Transmission, pretty basic. It only has a 2 barrel carb on the intake, but it has plenty of power for going around town and the like. I'm in the process of replacing the front transmission seal, getting new pads on the drum brake system and replacing the wheel cylinders, brake lines, and putting in a new master cylinder. The front conversion to disk brakes is around $1,500. Which I would spring for if I had it. For now, refurbished drum brakes will do. 8)

 Oh man, I should have guessed. I don't think I've asked anybody who owns a Chevy who DOESN'T have a crate 350. That's cool though.

Now I want a short bed feet side Ford with a 460.

There is a reason for that.

-Readily available parts
-several people know how to work on them if need be.
-It was one of the longest produced engines ever made.
-They have a quick response time in comparison to big block engines.
-They are relatively inexpensive on almost all fronts, and are very durable.

Not saying that a big block can't beat a small block, but off the line, the small block can carry an advantage in that it wraps tight (depending on transmission/rear end combo) and weighs less, to where the big block is more like a steam locomotive. It takes longer to get going, but once it does, move out the way!

Oh no, I understand. There's a ton of advantages. It just seems like nobody knows GM made other engines.

The only time I have an issue with that is when someone puts a GM motor in a Ford, or vice versa. The engine should match the make, its a travesty otherwise.
