Almost bought a Mazda RX-8 as a sporty car fun car. That RX-8 was sweet with its very light weight tiny rotary engine. That motor looked silly small but puts out a lot of power for its size. The power to weight distribution on this car is very good with the tiny motor set back against the firewall. Held off since Wankel engines do not have as long a life as conventional piston motors.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:The FD RX-7 is one of my dream cars. I hope to own one some day. Incredibly beautiful, both cosmetically and to drive.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:A friend got me into the FD RX-7 and it's very high on my want list (if I can ever afford one), but I'd take a Miata/MX-5, preferably a dead stock NA in red, blue, or yellow, if I can't ever get one.
I've been lusting after the Protege 5 Wagon lately myself though/snip

Sir, I've had 28 cars in the last 6-7 years. I know what power feels like.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Drive a normal one in autox before you do that at the very least. Then maybe you'll understand what Mod_Man is saying.
The car feels good with a little more power. 200hp is no problem. With 400hp the car becomes ruined. Well not ruined. But it's no longer a Miata at that point.
At this point in my life, I honest to god want something that just feels violent to drive and puts a smile on my face.
I've done AutoX, drifted, drag raced. I just want something that scares me to drive.

After driving one, they are violent yes. But it's still a stock car..And I don't have the money for turbos and stuff.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:You could always get a Viper.
I'm thinking like a small FD with an LSx swap. or Hell even a supra with a big single. easy to drive...Until you hit boost.

I am spoiled by the power as well. The 540 under the hood of my Roush tempts with the potential to just bust loose at a whim. The upgraded suspension also makes it a blast taking and accelarating through turns and curves.
But it can also be driven easily and is my daily driver. Not many production cars you can get track performance without doing any mods and also get a reliable everyday car with a standard factory warranty.

Re: What car do you drive?
I recently got alot of time on two different vehicles:
Mid 70s GMC Astro 95
1988 Caterpillar DB5
I might get certed on the Astro this summer. And for those who want power: find a place where you can drive a DB5. You wont find anything that will give a bigger rush than that. I have flown airplanes and driven supercars, but that DB5 was the absolute most fun Ive ever had in a vehicle.

I came in the dealership to buy the Boss 302, but drove off the lot with the Roush 540RH instead. I love the boss, but this is more car and I got a better deal.JsGameRoom wrote:The new Boss302 mustangJmustang1968 wrote: Not many production cars you can get track performance without doing any mods and also get a reliable everyday car with a standard factory warranty.

Very nice, I like the truck. My grandfather had a 68 ford stepside in a similar color I used to drive around. We sold it a few years ago though...puke_face wrote:Family car - 2000 Hyundai Sonata
