Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (PS3/PC)
So I decided to use the benchmark app and for some reason it runs a bit low on ultimate even though my computer has good specs.. What I mean is there are people with specs lesser than mine in all 4 major categories that seem to score better than me on highest, and it doesn't seem like OCing helps improve the score that much.. Also my laptop scored half of my Desktop on medium settings even though it's about 1/4th the power of my desktop at best...

Maybe the benchmark doesn't agree with some of your hardware?
I haven't even tried the benchmark. I don't have to try it to know my PC can't run it. lol.

What's a bit low? I know not everyone got the numbers they expected some here for example, but AFAIK XIV still doesn't utilize multiple GPUs either.
I mean, when it comes down to it, if you're expecting Square-Enix PC code to properly utilize your hardware, you're gonna have a bad time.

5700 on max... i7 3770k(3.4 GHz), 16 gigs of Ram I believe DDR3, GTX 660.. I guess if I OC'd my CPU it would jumo up to 6k range.. But there are people with lesser specs than mine hitting 7k.. Also, I'm 2600 Medium on my laptop.. i3 2.4 ghz, Mobility Radeon HD 5650, 4 gigs of DDR3 ram..

I need to OC my CPU.. I plan on buying either a HD 7970 or GTX 680 soon as well.. Going to need to purchase a stronger PSU for the upgrade as well..

Re: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (PS3/PC)
I checked out that thread and here is a good example..
There is no way this guy should score higher than me... And in 1200p nonetheless..
I'm very happy with my scores considering I built the PC in August 2010 for the 1.0 launch.
i7 930 @ 2.8GHz
ATI 5870
Crucial 256GB SSD
6GB DDR3 1600 RAM
1920x1200, everything at max - 6825
1600x900, everything at max - 8317 (I don't like the game taking up the whole screen, so this is what I play at)

There were folks not far off from you either, like low 6000s with a [email protected] and a 660 Ti.
Are you running the benchmark from a SSD?

Not sure I will try to check when I get home... That would make a difference..

This game is looking more and more promising. I really like the gamepad setup that they have going on. Looks very intuitive for having action bars mapped using the L2/R2 buttons. I'm hoping that it does well!
