9. The "Denpa" Men: They Came By Wave 3DS eShop
10. Pokémon White Version 2 DS
11. Kirby Mass Attack DS *NEW*
12. F-Zero Wii U VC *NEW*

2 more games for the list - one handheld game, and one played on entirely on the Wii U gamepad, so close enough .

Kirby Mass Attack was a nice little game, which was as well polished and charming as you'd expect. It did however have an unfortunate habit of getting a bit tedious quite quickly, so it's really more suited to short bursts of one or two levels per play than a marathon game session. You control a whole team of kirbys (although you start with one in each world, you quickly amass a total of 10 as you work through all the levels in each one), and command them to move around and attack enemies by dogpiling on top of them and pummeling them to death, a bit of a departure from the usual kirby mechanics. You can also flick the kirbys about to hit them into enemies, switches, breakable blocks and the likes. Unfortunately, the levels are often filled with lots of enemies which can became repetitive, and theres not a whole lot else to do besides some simple puzzles like hitting a switch as your platform floats by it or the likes. The game does mic stuff up with some faster paced levels including some fun mini games and cool mechanics such as a tower that tilts over when you move your kirby's weight around, but it still feels a little like they tried to stretch the mechanics a bit too thin. Luckily, there are a good number of bonus games to unlock as you progress, including one which is essentially a modern version of Kirby's Pinball Land (but longer!) and one which is an awesome 6 stage shmup thats really fun to play - better than the main game in fact. A nice game, but not Kirby's best. Still worth a play though.

F-Zero is a game I've never had the pleasure to play until this Wii U VC release, despite being familiar with other games in the series - I'm a big fan of F-Zero GX, Maximum Velocity & GP Legend, and I've enjoyed the little I've played of F-Zero X too. I went in to this game expecting it to feel a bit dated in the same way as I feel Super Mario Kart does, but was I ever wrong - it still feels spectacularly quick (aided by the fact that Nintendo finally got it into their heads to release the 60hz version in Europe for a change!), looks really pretty and controls fantastically. The track design is decent, although it lacks some of the wow factor of the later entries in the series - particularly the 3D ones, but also the handheld games to a lesser extent. The music is nice, and sounds great from the Wii U gamepad speakers or through headphones. There are a few ways in which this game shows its age though - the fact that there are only really 4 true racers on the course is annoying, especially when the other 'racers' are put there just to get in the players way - unless you're literally right next to them, the computer cars will never collide with the fake racers - and if you are next to them, they will ievitably push them right in front of you, screwing you over. The computer cars also lack a health guage, have heavy rubber banding and ridiculous turning capabilities, meaning that the game can often feel a bit cheap with the computer getting advantages you dont. This was mostly addressed in later entries where rival cars could be destroyed and collided with each other too, but it isnt a deal breaker here. This game is definitely worth a play even now.

Whoops, those were some long summaries, I really have to stop Wall of Text-ing this thread . Next Up: Finishing up Jeanne d'Arc for PSP, plus progress on either Nintendo Land or Blaster Master probably - console games! :o

3. Metal Gear Solid 2 (Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Xbox 360) - 1/20/2013

9. Panzer Dragoon Orta (Xbox) - 2/23/2013
10. Panzer Dragoon (Xbox Port)
11. 1941: Counter Attack (Capcom Classics Collection: Remixed; PSP)

This was an excellent shmup. I had played a few 19XX shooters before, but this was the first I've played through completion. Great action, not too steep of a learning curve, and excellent powerups. I liked some of the areas where the play area of the map moves with terrain, and turns into a canyon or maze of sorts. Spectacular.

Oh, and if you're looking for a great collection, I snagged early in December the UMD Dual Pack of Capcom Classics Collection Remixed & Reloaded. $10 for a great lineup of Capcom's arcade games, including 15 Shmups!

Company of Heroes PC
Super Mario 3D Land 3DS
Far Cry 3 PC
Mega Man 2 3DS
Resident Evil: Revelations 3DS
Fire Emblem: Awakening 3DS

My 3DS is turning out to be quite a favorite. Anyways, I have LOADS to write on this game but not the time to write it right now. What I will say is it is perhaps my favorite game released in the last few years. I'm even thinking of doing something I've never done in such quick succession. A second playthrough.

Also, I reached new levels of obsession with this game. According to my 3DS's playlog I put roughly 8.5 hours into that game in the last 24. I stayed up until 2am finishing it after starting it after dinner.
Older. Not wiser.

Finished GTA4 The Lost and the Damned ... plot really fizzles out for so much build up in the beginning.

Monster World 4 on PSN.

Amazing game. For $5 everyone should own it. Best money I ever spent in on the PSN. Wish I had the opportunity to play as a kid. Amazing.

Beat it with my 5 year old daughter who I'm sure will remember it forever. It's that good.

Highly recommended for everyone.

I don't think Radiant Silvergun needs any introduction given its well known status as a legendary and highly sought after shmup. I made a choice early on before I got back into Saturn collecting. I decided that I'd own the one Saturn game I've never had the privilege of playing which happens to be Radiant Silvergun.

To be concise, Radiant Silvergun is fantastic.

My first play through I enabled the credits cheat through Action Replay and just ran through the entire game. I wanted to get a feel for RS on my initial play through. Once I had done that, I finally started to get into the nuances of this game. It is obvious that strategy is quite important in this game and you will find yourself planning how and when you will need to use your weapons. In addition, if you are aiming to achieve a high score you will need to get the chaining down (chaining the same colors) and this requires a decent amount of memorization.

The following day after my first night of Radiant Silvergun, I sat down and watched a 1cc playthrough video of RS. I took excellent mental notes and when I booted RS back up later that night, I could already see a great deal of improvement. I was moving swiftly, accurately, and crushing bosses left and right. The CGR (Classic Game Room) review of RS is correct to say that in many ways you can "personalize" your Radiant Silvergun experience. Personally, I love using the spread shot but I also realize that this may not be the correct choice for a given scenario or boss. Oh yea, did I mention boss? I meant to say bosses because RS throws a shitload of them at you.

Anyways, the beauty of RS lies in the balance of the challenge, gameplay, strategy, and fun. It's also a very pretty game to look at on the Saturn and its controls are extremely tight. I've been playing RS every night since I beat it last week. Eventually, I'd like to be able to 1cc this game on an easier difficulty since I'm not man enough. For now, I'm just enjoying getting better at this game. I'm focusing on taking down the bosses with ease and then working on chaining while also remembering the stages through my vast amount of replays.

I'm hooked on RS. 8) :D

January 2013:

Mario Kart Wii - Wii
Mario Kart 7 - 3DS
Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse - SNES

February 2013:

Chrono Trigger - DS

March 2013:

Sonic Wings Special - PSN
Liked this one alot better than the original Aero Fighters on SNES, beat it with a friend using Team USA SeaHawk/Thunderbolt. Dont like that we both have to be on the same Team and cant choose a different country/character.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled - PSN
Didnt like the graphics honestly, the original on SNES is better and feels more true to the comic/tv show, unfortunately you cant buy this on XBLA/PSN anymore, i bought it when it first came out and never really played it till i took my PS3 over to a friends and we did some 3 player action.

18. Chuck Rock (SNES)(Platformer)
19. Arcana (SNES)(RPG)

Well, there goes another SNES game, and one that I likely would never have tried if I hadn't been collecting as many of the console's games as possible. Which is a shame, as I really liked Arcana. It has some problems with the translation, and at times the encounter rate is frustratingly high and then suddenly practically nonexistent, which hinders the game flow. Also the flaunted card system feels like a gimmick in the end, as I only used it on bosses in the first two chapters and then never touched it again.

But then there is the excellent music, the animation that keeps turns from becoming jarring in each dungeon, and a system for switching out elemental spirits to suit each fight that works surprisingly well. A good spirit choice can seriously make or break a fight, so if you pick wrong, you might suddenly find yourself getting your butt handed to you, but pick correctly and watch as your enemies fall almost instantly. The spirits are always there, though they lack in physical attack power and cannot equip weapons and armor. They're basically spell cannons that regenerate HP and MP with every step, so blast away!

And while combat is heavily focused around the player using the 'Fight' option, it still requires some strategic thinking about the order to take down opponents and how to best combat each group. Otherwise a horde of enemies will likely wipe the floor with you.

If you guys have played the big name SNES RPGs but still want more, check Arcana out! It's good stuff.
