But Amon Amarth's early material is completely indecipherable...Forlorn Drifter wrote:I'm also interested in seeing more bands with good growling vocals, ala Amon Amarth or Insomnium, seeing as most are near gibberish.
Here's a few vocalists I personally like a ton:
Karl Willets (Bolt Thrower) - Personal number one vocal influence. I just love this guy's delivery.
John Tardy (Obituary) - Not always very understandable (since he literally sings gibberish sometimes) but his vocals are very distinct. I can easily pick him out on anything he sings on.
Barney Greenway (Napalm Death) - Another huge vocal influence. His voice is just classic, and he's pretty decipherable I think.
Piotr Wiwczarek (Vader) - I know a LOT of people who hate this guy's voice, but I love it. Unlike a lot of death metal vocalists, his voice has actually gotten better over the years if you ask me.
I really like Ross Dolan (Immolation) too, but I know you're uncomfortable with explicitly anti-religious bands and Immolation is about as anti-religious as it gets...
