Re: Games Acquired 2013

I started slow in February, but between my trip to Asheville last weekend and an Atari pick up this morning, I went out with a bang.

There were no huge finds this month, but I did manage to add 31 games to my 2600 collection and both Fire Emblem: Awakening and Theatrhythm Final Fantasy to my 3DS collection.

I am also averaging a little less than $3.50 per game despite picking several, relatively expensive new titles. I expect this number to creep up, however, as it becomes more difficult for me to find inexpensive games for my 2600.

I haven't picked up much this year.

In January, I grabbed an NES and picked up Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt and Dragon Warrior.

For my Dreamcast - Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver, Jet Grind Radio, and Skies of Arcadia. Sadly, I haven't had time to play any of them.

For my 3DS - Pokemon White Version 2. I never played a Pokemon game when I was a kid. I never saw the appeal. I watched some footage of the first White version and wanted to get it but I didn't want to pay $35 for it. Luckily, the sequel was on sale that weekend for $15 and I grabbed it.

Last day of the month, updating time:

Previous months:

January: £21.30 - 5 games
Consoles - 1 - £290

Consoles: Wii U Premium Bundle - £290

Games:
January
New Super Mario Bros. U Wii U - Free
Nintendo Land Wii U - Free with console
Bubble Bobble SMS - £9.05
Kirby Mass Attack DS - £11.95
Balloon Fight Wii U VC - £0.30
Total: £21.30

February
Tank! Tank! Tank! Wii U e-Shop - £1.79 (free download + DLC add-on)
F-Zero Wii U VC - £0.30
Total: £2.09

A really lacking month for new games this month, for two reasons - first off, I'm pretty broke. Secondly, I did actually spend more in order to preorder Fire Emblem Awakening when it comes out in April in the UK. I've already put the money down for this one, so I guess it could count as a February purchase too. Tank! Tank! Tank! was a freemium download from the Wii U e-shop. I purchased one piece of the DLC add-ons in order to unlock unlimited plays of the multiplayer mode, which is the main reason I downloaded it. F-Zero was this months Famicom Anniversery game, which picked up for 30p because why wouldn't you?

Hopefully next month I can add something more substantial. At the very least I should be able to add the next Famicom Anniversery games though, which I think is Punch-Out!! next month.

Well, since my package finally came in the mail, I can share my final February acquisitions.

Shiny, new and fresh from the Amazon box.

Walmart had FFXIII and since I had a giftcard it cost me a whopping $0.04. The book I found later, since I have a soft spot for strategy guides, especially RPG strategy guides (even if this one is linear and I probably won't need it).

I've had my eye on it for a while and have heard nothing but good things about it. Picking it up was a no-brainer :)

And now for the first acquisitions of March:

Image
Poor Syberia II box. Almost crushed to hell :(

The thrift stores were practically erupting today with PC games. Someone had unloaded these and what looks to have been their entire Sims 2 collection. I don't give a damn about the Sims, but I do like adventure games, so I snatched these up. They hadn't even been put out yet. They were in the back in a row of "items to be put out later" carts.

I'd sort of been waiting to find a couple of these for the Xbox (I may end up doing that yet), but this works too.

Goodwill is like a treasure trove of old PC games. Three of my February games were from Goodwill - $1.99 each. I'm convinced people give away a lot of their old PC games because they don't know they can run them on current PCs (they don't know about DOSBox or whatever). Lucky for me I multiple PCs with DOS, Windows 3.1, 98, XP, Vista, and 7. 8)
