I found a PSX DVR for cheap, questions inside
Re: I found a PSX DVR for cheap, questions inside
First time I've seen one of those. Interesting design.

I wonder if the network where it downloads the tv guide listings still functions. If not hopefully there is a way just to set the time you want it to record (like a vcr), otherwise it is useless.
I'm not sure if what type of signal cable is in japan, I know they no longer have analog terrestrial. Many cable companies in the US no longer provide analog channels anymore. If it is digital, you will need a converter between the cable wire and the dvr. You will then have to use the converter to change channels. If this is the case you will have to make sure the converter is set to the correct channel, and the dvr is set to record the channel or input the converter is set to.
What type of tv do you currently watch cable on, this would be an easy way to see if its analog or digital.

What about getting a region free DVD player and importing DVD's from the US cheap from people here?

Or even better, have someone burn a ton of episodes and send them to you.

DVD players are positively worthless in the US. Even if not region free, you could get someone to pick up an entry level $30 model from like Walmart.

OmG! It's here!
It works perfectly. I used a male to male AV cable plus ps2 regular AC adapter.
It's sooo beautiful! 10$, i can't believe it!
I bid on another one for 45$, I guess i'll have to get rid of one of them hahaha.
The cool thing about it, other than it reads ps1 and 2, is that I can plug any consoles that works with AV cable and record HQ video of me playing. Then I can transfer the footage to the PSP via USB. Then I can edit and use for video purposes!
I love my 10$ media center! I cant believe people actually bought this for around a 1000$ before and I get it for 100 times cheaper hahaha.
Here's some pictures and a video

I think PSX DVR dropped RGB SCART video, a hallmark of Playstation design consistency.
