is there any way to hook up a ps2 controller to a psp
is there any way to hook up a ps2 controller to a psp
Just wondering since I bought component cables for the psp to my tv is there any adapter to hook up a ps2 controller to the psp? After a while on playing the psp my hands cramp up and I really don't want to buy ps2 games that I already own on the psp.

I don't think so. There might be some kind of mod you could do, but short of making a consolized PSP, I kind of doubt it.
NES, SNES, PS1, N64, DC, PS2, GCN, Wii, PS3, 360, GB, GBC, GBA, GBA SP, PSP 3000, and 3DS XL

You can use a PS3 controller with a PSP Go: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to- ... ontroller/
It might work with the Vita; I don't know.
I also know of a mod where someone hacked a SNES controller into a PSP. You'll have to find out more yourself.

I believe IRShell with USBHOST supported this. But IRShell only works with 5.xx firmwares. This would be a great feature to have with current firmware. Combine something like this with RemoteJoy, and you could consolize your PSP with no hardware mods at all. Real shame that the PSP homebrew community has petered out already.
Edit: Actually I think you can just do this with RemoteJoy, it supports keyboard input to the PSP, so combine joy2key with remotejoy and this should work.

PS2 games are very inexpensive and might look better then the PSP version blown up.mas wrote:Just wondering since I bought component cables for the psp to my tv is there any adapter to hook up a ps2 controller to the psp? If you go the hardware mod route, it is possible and still keep the PSP still fuctioning as a portable. I'm thinking along the lines as a miniature din connector jumpered to each button and Dpad. The analog sticks would not work without disconnecting the on board analog stick due to the resistance values so that is out. A cable can then be added with the matching Din connector using a PS2 working controller PCB.
This mod would mean very intricate soldering, only justified if there are a lot of unique PSP games you want to play with a regular duel shock; but digital mode only.
Valkyrie's or Hatta's software approach looks to be more feasible. Do all PSPs accept bluetooth input?

It's ok. I tested a few games that I own on the ps2 and my kids psp. Same game but night and day differences. I'll stick with the ps2 versions.

Only the PSP Go has Bluetooth. No other models do. Those games look great on the small screen, so I wouldn't blow them up anyway.
