Gotta love Carl Sagan. Related, but check out the Overview Effect - Frank White. There's a good video on vimeo somewhere.

Beautiful.

Carl Sagan has long been a personal hero of mine. This just underscores why. I also highly recommend his book Demon Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark.
