I'm a comic collector as well, and this argument comes up a lot in the comic collecting world. To slab a comic or not. Slabbing a comic entails sending it to CGC, having them give it an official grade, then sealing it up to never be opened again. Many collector's see this as blasphemy since comics are made to be read. I'd have to say that I'm among them. I don't have a comic in my 4,000+ collection that I haven't read.
And I have to say, that I feel the same way about games. Why buy something that your not gonna use as it was intended to be used? It was made to be enjoyed, so enjoy it!

Right, because a collectible coin is just the same as a comic book or video game.

Right, because a collectible coin is just the same as a comic book or video game.
Also, specifically... "Why buy something that your not gonna use as it was intended to be used?"
FYI, I own no sealed games that I intend to keep sealed.

I have all 166 episodes/minisodes of Retronauts on my laptop now. It's a very warm feeling. I've still yet to listen to a good chunk of the ones that weren't available through Zune.

Seriously this whole "debate" is but a attempt to ridicule people who like different things than you do which coming from people who play children's games from thirty years ago is more than sad.
If they like collecting something, let them! It isn't that hard to understand.

I just got my Neo Geo and I'm not really liking the arcade stick controller. Is it an acquired taste? I'm going to get a Neo Geo CD with the game pad in a month or so, should I learn to like the stick or just learn to play games with the gamepad?

Would there be any technical issues with simply importing the PAL version of Xenoblade and running it on a softmodded NTSC Wii?
Seems like a viable alternative to the currently inflated US prices.
