this is insane and i can't believe that Toys R Us still uses the same typeface for their price stickers 23 years later.

$80 for Phantasy Star III... and people complain about $60 games now.
Re: Sega aisle at Toys R Us in 1990 (video)
Hehe. This is cool. It does put things in perspective though. When you might complain about paying $30 for Alien Crush for the TG-16 CIB today, well back then it was $45 if I'm reading it correctly...
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

Holy crap I live like 15 minutes from that Toys R US! its right down the freeway near the Arden Mall. Game pricing was crazy back then, there was no standard prices, and seriously $80 bucks is/was a lot of coin for a game.

Not really, an 80 dollar game in 1990 is about the same price as a 50 dollar game in today's market.jay_red wrote:Holy crap I live like 15 minutes from that Toys R US! its right down the freeway near the Arden Mall. How? Reverse inflation? It's like over 120$ with adjusted inflation...
Re: Sega aisle at Toys R Us in 1990 (video)
I remember when they were like this. The one near me was a little different. I remember there being several full aisles of video games. There were just pictures of the box and screenshots on display. Then you would take the ticket to the little window back in the corner and they would get you your game. Man the early 90s were awesome.
