I've browsed M-A before, and I'm pretty surprised at how well everything is handled. I've figured out there is one question I shouldn't ask, but otherwise it looks good.

Maybe he's thinking of something else though. Believe it or not Forlorn they won't lynch you just for asking to avoid anti-religious stuff. They might tease you a bit about it though.

I'm not exclusive to any subgenre of Metal. but this one particular band I cannot get enough of. Thought it'd be appropriate to post what I have in this thread.

Right... not asking anything about those. I know better.AppleQueso wrote: "Why does everyone here hate metalcore/nu metal/djent/whatever so much that's not fair!"

Good to know on the second point. I'm not a fan of getting internet lynched.
Wrath, that's sick dude. I love it all.

Thanks man! Out of everything I collect, my Kamelot stuff is what I treasure the absolute most. I'm only missing a couple things. Dominion and The Expedition. They're both imports though and both around $40 X_X I'm probably also going to grab the stand alone audio version of Cold Winter's Night too just for the sake of completion.

I hate Nu Metal, because I hate rap in my metal. But I'm not gonna beat you up if you like it.AppleQueso wrote:"Why does everyone here hate metalcore/nu metal/djent/whatever so much that's not fair!"Lone Wanderer wrote:And what is that question?Forlorn Drifter wrote:I've browsed M-A before, and I'm pretty surprised at how well everything is handled. Re: Metal Heads Assemble!!
That's pretty impressive. Kamelot is one of my favorite bands. How are you liking the new lead singer?WrathOskvro wrote:I'm not exclusive to any subgenre of Metal. but this one particular band I cannot get enough of. Thought it'd be appropriate to post what I have in this thread.

Same as everyone else
Nobody will ever replace Roy Khan, but Karevik is an awesome addition. Really impressed by Silverthorn too.

Great! I think Havok might be my favorite Thrash revival band. Then again, that title seems to change every other week.stickem wrote:revisiting your suggestions i'd have to rank havok as my favorite and exactly what i was looking for.
Havok's Time is Up album is a hard act to follow. I'm kind of glad I put off listening to it as long as I did since I think that album has spoiled me for other new Thrash bands.evile was a close second. consistent but just not anything as epic sounding as say "the cleric" from havok.
Say it isn't so!gama bomb=boring to me. songs all ran together, weak hooks... i only gave them about 1hr though, just nothing stuck out.
Oh, this just broke my heart.other 2 i passed on. wasn't a big overkill fan back in the day.
Eh, Decibel is alright. Admittedly, I don't think I'd read it if the magazine didn't come with a Flexi-Disc.AppleQueso wrote:Most metal magazines I've seen are awful and the genuinely good ones are all out of print now.
Terrorizer is okay, maybe. They're probably gone down the crapper too.
Print media is dead.
I'm going to say something that'll probably make you guys hate me:
I don't think I like Testament. They've been on my "Gotta Listen To" list for years and kinda felt like my Thrash knowledge had a hole in it. A few months ago, I learned of a concert in Atlanta that had Flotsam & Jetsam, OverKill, and Testament. I decided that this was a good chance for me to get acquainted with Testament. Excited, I burned CDs of all their albums to listen to in my car. I'm pretty damn disappointed. They're not bad, it's just when listening to much of their work I was left thinking: "That's it? That's what everyone's been raving about?" Most of the albums were mid paced filler with one, maybe two tracks that I actually liked. Here's a condensed list of what I thought of each of their albums:
The Legacy - This is a pretty good debut. Kind of like a darker version of early 'tallica.
The New Order - This album is a Thrash classic with killer riffs, driving bass lines, and high energy. The Aerosmith cover was alright too.
Practice What You Preach - This is where things went downhill. This album is alright, a bit slow but alright. It's like if Metallica's Fade to Black was turned into a full album. I'm going to be an unfair dick and say that if I want something this Proggy, I'll just listen to Heathen's Victims of Deception. I know it came out two years later, but it's just how I feel. Absolutely forgettable leaving no lasting impression.
Souls of Black - This is a step up, but it's still not that great to me. There's a couple ear worms and Malpractice has a killer solo, but I don't think I'll be listening to this one very often.
The Ritual - Eh, Electric Crown was alright. This album is probably the best example of what I mean but the songs being mid paced and kinda boring.
Low - Things get a bit better with this one. At least it's heavier and a bit more lively. I liked Ride quite a bit.
Demonic - If the M-A ratings are anything to go by, I'm in the minority when it comes to this album. I kinda like this one. It's a kind of Groove Death Metal similar to Six Feet Under. It's not all that good, but it's a style that I don't listen to much so it's fresh to me.
The Gathering - I don't even remember this one. Next.
First Strike Still Deadly - Lame. I normally like rerecordings of a band's classic songs. I really enjoyed Destruction's Thrash Anthems, Anthrax's The Greater of Two Evils, and Sodom's The Final Sign of Evil. I didn't even give this one a second listen. All of my favorite songs (Disciple of the Watch, Trial By Fire, The Haunting, etc.) have been turned into boring piles of shit. Perhaps I've been spoiled by later examples of this type of album. I think I'm being unfair, but I don't plan on giving this another chance any time soon.
The Formation of Damnation - The reception of this album seems to be lukewarm, but I liked this one. I didn't listen to this one as much as the other albums, but I greatly enjoyed the title track and More Than Meets the Eye.
Dark Roots of Earth - I only listened to a couple of this album's songs at the concert I went to. For some reason this one's not on Spotify yet and I didn't want to pirate it so this could kick a lot of ass for all I know.
I listened to all of these albums at least five times (except for First Strike Still Deadly) so I didn't just write them off as soon as the final track was finished. I almost feel sorry to say this, but I'm left disappointed and underwhelmed. With the exception of the first two albums, I don't think that I am going to buy any of Testament's music on vinyl like I plan to for Anthrax and OverKill.
